After all, Adventures in Polishland is dedicated to fabulous and affordable beauty! Let me share some of my favorite makeup products with you!

Top 5 Makeup Products Under $5.00 | Adventures in PolishlandJust a quick note before we get into the products – the prices reflect the retail price that I found online. Pricing varies by store and by region, so keep that in mind when you go to your local store. The good news is, you can buy each item online with the links provided!

RIMMEL STAY MATTE PRESSED POWDER

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – Transparent$3.97 on Amazon [BUY]

I’ve loved the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder for years, and I’ve repurchased it time and time again. It does an excellent job of controlling my shiny skin, and it’s never cakey. I use the shade 001 Transparent, which does not add color to the face. It’s perfect over any makeup look, or on days you just want to reduce shine. I’ve tried other pressed powders, but always go back to this one. I’ll need to purchase a new one soon!

e.l.f. STUDIO BLUSH

e.l.f. Studio Blush – Pink Passion e.l.f. Studio Blush – Pink Passion

$3.00 on e.l.f. [BUY]

This is the first blush I purchased when I started trying out makeup in my everyday life a couple years ago. I grabbed it because of the cheap price, and I’m so glad I did! The shade you see above is Pink Passion, and while it may look very bright and intimidating, it’s actually quite wearable because it blends out flawlessly. I also love the sleek packaging. I hope to try out more shades from this line very soon.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA MATTE EYESHADOW

Physicians Formula – Canyon ClassicsPhysicians Formula – Canyon Classics$4.37 on Drugstore.com [BUY]

I don’t wear eyeshadow often, but when I do I automatically reach for this quad. The matte formula is great, and I can create a complete eye look with these four shadows. In fact, I only use three – the dark grey is not my style. I picked this up during a coupon deal at Rite Aid a while back, and I’m so glad I did! It’s a must if you’re seeking affordable matte shadows.

JORDANA FABULINER EYELINER

Jordana Fabuliner – Black Jordana Fabuliner – Black

$2.49 at Kmart [BUY]

This eyeliner is such an insane bargain! I first learned about it from my favorite YouTubers EleventhGorgeous a couple years back. I have trouble applying eyeliner, and I thought this marker-like tip would be helpful. It’s definitely easier to apply, and it leaves a nice, black line. I appreciate how affordable the Jordana Fabuliner is, because I very rarely use eyeliner and don’t have to worry about wasting my money on a product that’s almost never touched. If you’re looking for a perfect eyeliner, you need to try this one!

BABY LIPS TINTED LIP BALM

Baby Lips Dr Rescue – Berry Soft

$3.68 on Amazon [BUY]

I’m a Baby Lips superfan, and if you’ve followed Adventures in Polishland for a while I’m sure you know that already! Lately I’ve been loving the Dr Rescue line because of the added moisturization (the shade Berry Soft is pictured above), but I honestly love them all and wear them so frequently. I have 13 Baby Lips in my collection, and it pains me that I don’t own them all! The light wash of color is just perfect, and Baby Lips are definitely one of my all-time favorite product lines.

That’s it for my Top 5 Makeup Products Under $5.00! I hope this post helped you discover something new at a great price. Keep in mind that these items often go on sale, plus you can use coupons for an even cheaper price. How awesome is that?! Jordana Cosmetics Limited Edition Playful Pastels Collection

Happy Saturday! I received a surprise package from Jordana Cosmetics that contained a beautiful nail polish collection. I’ve only used one Jordana polish before, so I was really excited to test out some more. These polishes are extremely fabulous and affordable, and because the Playful Pastels is a limited edition line, I knew I had to share them with you as soon as possible. Let’s get started! Jordana – Baby Blue

Jordana – Baby BlueFirst up is Baby Blue, a polish that stays quite true to its name color wise! Baby Blue has a very sheer formula, and I needed four coats to achieve opacity. It was also very streaky, so this formula was a bit disappointing for me. The finished product is beautiful, though.

IMG_7549 Jordana – Pink Petunia Next up is Pink Petunia, a gorgeous true pink polish. Pink Petunia has a good formula that is opaque in three coats. I’m loving this shade of polish, and think it makes me look a bit tan for some reason. I think it’s due to it being a bit coral!

Jordana – Lively Lilac Jordana – Lively LilacThe next Playful Pastel is Lively Lilac, a nice purple shade. Lively Lilac has a great formula that is opaque in two coats. I’m a big fan of lilac shades in the spring, so I’ll be sure to pull this one out again during that time of year. Of course, you can wear pastels all year long if you like!

Jordana – Whimsical White IMG_7567Whimsical White is definitely a must have in this line. It’s the perfect white that is opaque in two coats. I’m super impressed with Whimsical White, since white polishes are difficult to get just right. If you’re looking for an affordable white, go grab this one!

Jordana – Merry Mint Jordana – Merry MintOne of my favorites in this collection is Merry Mint, a pastel green that leans towards seafoam. Merry Mint has an awesome formula that is opaque in two coats. I love the flawless finish with this one! Plus, this color is great for fall.

Jordana – Sunsational Jordana – Sunsational Last but not least is Sunsational, a bright canary yellow polish. Sunsational is an awesome yellow that is opaque in two coats. I was really impressed with the formula, and loved the bright color right away. I don’t wear yellow polishes often, but I’ll remember this next time I want one!

All in all, the Jordana Cosmetics Playful Pastels Collection is a fun line, and a bit unexpected for fall. I definitely recommend this collection, though wish the formula on Baby Blue was better. My favorites are definitely Pink Petunia and Merry Mint. You can purchase the Playful Pastels Collection on Jordana’s website HERE for just $1.99 each! Will you be grabbing any of these limited edition shades? Let me know in the comments!

Favorite Friday: Neon Pink + Glitter

Happy Friday! Today I bring you a look created with two of my favorite nail polishes. Every Friday I like to use a polish that I love, but that I haven’t used in a while. I thought today would be the perfect time to use a neon pink with glitter over it. Remember when I got L.A. City Nights from Jordana? I knew that it needed to be used over pink! You can read that post HERE. Not only is today’s manicure fabulous, but I used polishes that both retail for $1.99 each! They can be found at your local drugstores.

I began with two coats of Plastic Flamingo by Spoiled. This polish has been featured many times on my blog already, but it is such a great neon pink! The formula is a little streaky, but it evens out with two coats. For just $1.99, there is no excuse to not have Plastic Flamingo in your nail polish stash. The best part is that neon pinks are still in for fall! I’ve spotted many girls sporting this color on the subway.

I’ve worn Plastic Flamingo alone a few times, but today I wanted some extra sparkle. Jordana Glitters in L.A. City Nights is a glitter polish with fine purple grains and small blue hexagonal glitters. I applied one thick coat over the neon pink, and then applied a glossy topcoat. I absolutely love the look! It is so fun! I wish I could capture the glitter better, but as you can see it is quite bright and sparkly! It is definitely the perfect manicure for the weekend, or any day! I love that Jordana nail polishes are sold for $1.99 also. How can you go wrong?

What do you think of my Favorite Friday manicure? Do you rock similar polishes?

Monthly Nail Polish Haul: June Edition

I’ve noticed that many other nail bloggers include this type of post at the end of each month, so I decided to do the same. This June has been a very special one for me and Adventures in Polishland. Though the blog began in April, it wasn’t until this month that I really took it to the next level. I got involved with the nail blog community, created a Facebook page, and even made it to 73 followers and over 1200 page views. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful support I’ve received! With that said, I would like to show you the polishes I purchased this month, and the deals I got on all of them. Don’t forget, Adventures in Polishland is dedicated to fabulous and affordable nails!

Left to right, here are all of my June scores!

  • Fabulous Nails in 104 (white). I purchased this for $2.95 on HauteLook after applying a credit I had earned. You can sign up HERE and read my post about the polish HERE.
  • Julep in Susie (a beautiful mint green) and Niecy (a creamy bright pink). I got both plus pedi creme for just one penny! Julep Maven is a monthly subscription that typically costs $19.99, but you can get your first month for a penny be entering COLOR2012 at checkout. You can always skip a month if you don’t like the selections or don’t have room in your budget. Join Julep Maven HERE. You can read all about my first Maven box HERE.
  • Revlon in Impulsive and Siren. I got these just a few days ago at CVS. Both are originally $5.99 each, but with coupons I only spent $4.98 plus I got $4 in Extra Care Bucks to spend on my next purchase. I haven’t tried out these  polishes yet, but stay tuned for them in coming posts!
  • Sally Hansen HD in Byte and Laser. These were also a CVS purchase, getting both polishes on clearance for a total of $3.47! Read my post about Sally Hansen HD HERE.

In all I purchased eight polishes and paid a grand total of $11.69! How awesome is that?! All I did was use discount websites, special sales, and coupons. That’s what I call fabulous.

What polishes did you purchase this month?!

First Copious Purchase: Jordana Glitters!

Thanks to fellow nail blogger Never Naked Nails, I was introduced to a great website called Copious. Similar to eBay or Etsy, users buy and sell different products on Copious. Luckily enough for me, there are lots of people selling nail polish at discounted prices. You can even find some polishes that have been discontinued! For my first purchase I chose a beautiful polish from Jordana Glitters called LA City Nights. I have never used this brand before, and I am pretty thrilled with the result! It did take 4 coats of the glitter to get the result below, but it looks so fun I can’t complain. This color includes both blue and purple glitters. The blue are larger squares, but the purple are smaller grains.

I think next time I am going to try layering this glitter. Even though it does look good on its own, it would definitely be better with something else. I can even picture this on top of a hot pink! What do you think?! If you’d like to join Copious, simply click HERE. When you sign up today you’ll receive a $10 credit! Just an FYI, you will need to spend $0.01 of your own money, but it’s still a fabulous deal. Have you ever tried Jordana Glitters before? Let me know what you think of it!
