Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes | #WipeforWater

Happy Thursday! Today I am here to review some new makeup remover wipes from the brand Neutrogena Naturals. You all know that I love cleansing wipes, and I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect brand for me. I was so excited when I was chosen as a part of the #WipeforWater campaign with Neutrogena and Influenster! I got a pack of the new Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes to test out so I could participate in the #WipeforWater campaign Neutrogena is currently hosting. Let me go ahead and share with you my thoughts on the product and what the #WipeforWater campaign is all about!

ABOUT THE #WIPEFORWATER CAMPAIGN

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes | #WipeforWaterAs you may know, April is Earth Month. In fact, we celebrated Earth Day yesterday! In order to show its support for water conservation, Neutrogena is partnering with The Nature Conservatory to save water. Every day, you can use up to 5 gallons of water just by washing your face. So, to help reduce the amount of water we use per day, Neutrogena is challenging us to #WipeforWater and use cleansing towelettes instead of water to wash our faces. I pledged to go three days in the #WipeforWater campaign, and you can pledge as well by signing up on the #WipeforWater website HERE. Make sure to check out the website for a lot of information regarding water conservation!

PRODUCT REVIEW

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes | #WipeforWater

Now it’s time to talk about the wipes themselves! The Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are designed to remove dirt, oil, and makeup, and claim to even remove waterproof mascara without leaving a greasy residue. The wipes are also designed to be ultra-soft and 97% naturally derived. I love that Neutrogena includes a thorough ingredients list on the back of all the products in its naturals line. I also think it’s great this this product is not tested on animals.

Unfortunately, these wipes do not live up to the claims for me. First and foremost, they did not remove all of my makeup. I had a lot of leftover mascara that would not come off using the towelettes. In addition, I found these wipes do not contain a lot of moisture. Because of this, they felt very rough and abrasive on my skin. I much prefer wipes that are wetter, because they remove all my makeup and are soft to the touch. I will say that I do really like how my skin feels after using the wipes – it is soft to the touch and feels really clean. However, I will not be repurchasing these wipes due to how rough they are on my skin and because they don’t remove all my makeup.

All in all, I’m so glad I got to test out the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Towelettes. The #WipeforWater campaign is such a great idea, so I definitely recommend participating with whatever makeup remover wipes you currently use. You can find the new Purifying Makeup Remover Towelettes at the drugstore for around $6.50 for a pack of 25 wipes. Please let me know in the comments what you think of these wipes if you’ve tried them, and if you’re joining the #WipeforWater challenge!

May 2014 Favorites!

Happy Friday! May is coming to a close, and that means it’s time to share my monthly favorites with all of you! It’s been a busy month, and I’m so glad that it’s summer. Let me go ahead and share the products I’ve been loving!

NAIL POLISH

Zoya – WendyZoya Nail Polish in Wendy [REVIEW] [BUY]

I absolutely love Wendy from the new Zoya Tickled Collection! It’s a wearable pink shade, and I wore it for about a week this month. I think it would look great on absolutely everyone, so definitely pick it up!

LIP BALM

Noya Lip Balm in CherryNoya Lip Balm in Cherry [BUY]

I received this lip balm in a Birchbox a while back, and decided to bring it along with me on my recent trip to Los Angeles. I’m so glad I did! Not only is this 100% natural, but it smells amazing and does a great job at moisturizing my lips. I’m making this my go-to lip balm for sure.

SKINCARE

Neutrogena Clear Skin SunscreenNeutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen [BUY]

After attending the Duane Reade event with Dr. Jaliman earlier this month, I decided that I really need to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. I decided to get this one from Neutrogena because it’s advertised to not cause breakouts. I’ve used it a few times now, and it’s true! This sunscreen has a semi-matte finish, and is a lot less greasy than other sunscreens. I definitely recommend it.

BODY CARE

Jergens BB Body Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream [BUY]

I got two samples of this BB cream so I decided to just give it a try! I won’t say that this is going to change the appearance of your skin drastically, but I’ve noticed that it does make my legs look a bit nicer and ready for summer. Plus, it smells really good! I do really like this stuff, and would recommend it if you want to even our your skin tone.

MUSIC

Love Never Felt so Good by Michael Jackson & Justin TImberlake [BUY]

My new favorite song is definitely the MJ & JT single! It’s so fun, and it’s awesome to hear two of my favorite artists together thanks to the power of technology. It’s definitely got a vintage, MJ vibe, which I personally love. Definitely check it out!

That’s it for my favorites this month! I didn’t end up trying too many new products, but I hope to do that this summer when I don’t have as much work on my plate. As always, feel free to share your favorite products of May in the comments or on social media with the hashtag #PolishlandFaves. I hope you had a great May, and here’s to June!

Bimonthly Beauty Post: Welcome & Haul!

I am excited to announce a new feature here at Adventures in Polishland. Twice each month you will now be getting a post dedicated to beauty and skincare products. Called the Bimonthly Beauty Post (BBP), this series will showcase hauls, reviews, and more! I have recently taken strides in my life to take better care of myself and my skin. Join me on my journey to looking and feeling beautiful!

Today I have a beauty haul to share! It seems as if all my products are running out at the same time, and there are a few new items I’ve been wanting to try as well. I headed to the Union Square area of New York City to stop by Nordstrom Rack and Sephora. Let me show you all the goodies I got!

The first stop on my journey was Nordstrom Rack. Like Marshalls and TJMaxx, you never know what you are going to find there. I was hoping to get as many items as possible at a discounted price. Not only was the store extremely busy, but the beauty section seemed to be a bit picked over. I have to remember to go during the week from now on! Nonetheless I picked up two items. I’ve been needing a face exfoliant to help remove the dry skin I get, and I decided to go with the new Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub. Originally I had been contemplating the Clinique Exfoliator that retails for around $19, but I am happy I settled with this one for just $6.97! I try to use natural products whenever I can, and I think this one will be gentle. I can’t wait to try it out! I also got Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract. I love cleansing wipes like these because they take off makeup in a breeze and leave your skin feeling instantly clean. I often use them before bed, or when I get home from school. I’ve never tried any from Burt’s Bees before, but a 30-pack was only $5.97 so I couldn’t pass them up! That price and quantity is better than what I get from the drugstore.

Sephora was the next stop on my beauty haul journey! I rarely shop at Sephora because of the high prices, but I was in the mood to splurge on some great quality products. First up I grabbed Soap & Glory Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream. I have been using Julep’s Best Pedi Creme Ever each night before bed, and I love it. The only problem is I go through it quickly and it’s sold out online! I grabbed this substantially larger bottle for $16. I’m hoping it lives up to its name!

The next item I splurged on is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in the color 3. I’m still a bit shocked at myself that I bought foundation for $38, but this bottle is going to last me a very long time, and is of the best quality. I tried a sample of this stuff and fell in love. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I do like to put my best face forward. This will keep my skin looking natural and non-oily all day! Finally, my last Sephora splurge was the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish. I have been desperately needing a lip exfoliant, and because I know that Fresh Sugar makes amazing products I went for it and paid $22.50 for this little tub. I tried this out as soon as I got home, and I am loving it already! My lips are completely smooth and free of dry skin. Plus, you only need the tiniest amount. This thing is going to last me a long time!

Last but not least, I stopped by Ricky’s NYC on the way back to my apartment. I am an avid flat iron user, so I make sure to use heat protectant to at least prevent some damage. I’ve been using a bottle of Frizz-Ease Heat Defeat for over a year now, and was about to buy a replacement bottle when I spotted a similar product called Not Your Mother’s Beat the Heat for an entire $6 cheaper. I decided to switch it up and try out this protectant instead. I hope it lasts me as long as the Frizz-Ease!

My grand total for this beauty haul was a whopping $103.90 with tax. Although this is way more than I usually spend, I’m glad I got some great products that will last me a very long time. If you would like to see a detailed review of any of these items, please let me know in the comments! Stay tuned to Adventures in Polishland for more Bimonthly Beauty Posts, and for your regularly scheduled nail polish!
