NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms | Swatches & Review

Happy Monday! Today I am excited to share with you swatches and a review of the NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms. I absolutely love tinted lip balms, as they are easy to wear and also help add moisture to the lips. I am always up for trying out different brands, and NYC New York Color is a very affordable one. There are six shades in this line, and I received four of them to review. Let me jump right into the swatches!

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms | Swatches & ReviewThe Show Time Lip Balms are formulated to be moisturizing, while at the same time providing a sheer wash of color. Each Show Time balm is infused with Vitamin C to minimize chapping and cracking. I definitely agree that these lip balms are moisturizing. They immediately feel very creamy on the lips, and even upon removal my lips feel hydrated. I’m impressed that the Show Time Lip Balms have such great moisturization! They also have a very light fruity scent.

Cool Nude

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Cool Nude

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Cool NudeFirst up is Cool Nude, a tan shade packed with holographic glitter. Cool Nude doesn’t have much of a color payoff, and instead just adds sparkle to my lips. I really appreciate that the glitter in this lip balm is very comfortable to wear, and not gritty like some other glittery products. This is not a shade I would wear because I don’t like to have any glitter on my lips, but if you are looking for that this is a great option!

Trendy Peach

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Trendy PeachNext up is Trendy Peach, a light baby pink packed with glitter. Trendy Pink also has a very light pigmentation, and is almost a completely clear. I do wish there was more of a color payoff with these glitter balms, but they can certainly be layered over other lip products to add some shine.

Popular Pink

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Popular Pink
NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Popular Pink

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – Popular PinkThe Show Time line also includes lips balms without any glitter or shimmer whatsoever. Popular Pink is one of those shades, and it a blue-toned pink balm. Popular Pink feels amazing on the lips, and is very wearable. I think the pigmentation is very well done, because it’s sheer but still has a nice payoff.

In Vogue Red

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – In Vogue Red
NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – In Vogue Red

NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balm – In Vogue RedLast but not least is In Vogue Red, a cherry red shade that also does not contain glitter. In Vogue Red is my favorite of the bunch! It looks so nice with my fair skin tone, and is a more comfortable option to the traditional red lip. Plus, it is really easy to apply!

All in all, I am quite impressed with the NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms. While I wouldn’t personally wear the glittery shades, I think they are great quality. Makeup transcends age, but I do think the Show Time Lip Balms are the perfect option for younger people first trying makeup. I would have been all over the glitter shades in my preteen years! I also recommend Popular Pink and In Vogue Red for anyone! These $1.99 lip balms are super fabulous and affordable, and a great option for my tinted lip balm fans. You can find these at your local drugstore or department store!

Manicure March | NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Fashion Queen

Happy Thursday! It’s the last day of Manicure March, and I have the 31st nail polish review to share with all of you today! I’m closing things out with a polish from the fabulous and affordable brand NYC New York Color. I’m really trying to cut down on the amount of glitter polishes in my collection because I just don’t wear them regularly. I decided to test out Fashion Queen from the Crystal Couture line, so let’s jump right into the review!

NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Fashion Queen NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Fashion Queen

Fashion Queen is a yellow gold polish in a gold base. The formula is okay, but it is a bit on the watery side. I applied two coats, and my nail line was still visible. However, I didn’t want to add another coat because the polish was so goopy. As you can probably guess, I’ve destashed Fashion Queen. The gold was really pretty, but the formula isn’t worth it. Another nail polish hits the declutter bin!

All in all, I’m glad I am working towards minimizing my glitter nail polishes. I still have an entire box of glitters, so it’s not like I only have a few left. NYC New York Color is a great drugstore brand, and I still highly recommend it even though Fashion Queen isn’t my favorite. If you use NYC New York Color, please recommend you favorites to me in the comments! Also, make sure to check back here tomorrow for my Manicure March wrap up!

Manicure March | NYC New York Color In a New York Minute Quick Dry in Royal Chic

Happy Thursday! Today I have a review of another fabulous and affordable nail polish from NYC New York Color’s Quick Dry line. If you are on a tight budget, or simply looking to save money on nail polish, I highly recommend trying out NYC New York Color. I’ve had very good luck with the polishes I’ve tried from the In a New York Minute line. Plus, they go on sale very often at the drugstore. Let me show you Royal Chic and let you know if it’s surviving my declutter project!

NYC New York Color In a New York Minute Quick Dry in Royal Chic NYC New York Color In a New York Minute Quick Dry in Royal Chic

Royal Chic is a deep brown creme nail polish. The formula is really good, and the polish is opaque in two coats due to its rich pigmentation. If you are looking for a good brown, I think Royal Chic is a great option. That being said, I don’t like how this polish looks with my skin tone, and I know I won’t be wearing it. I thought about keeping this polish for nail art looks, but I do own brown polishes from Zoya that I will be keeping. I’m saying goodbye to Royal Chic!

All in all, Royal Chic is the perfect example of a great polish formula with a shade I just don’t like on me. I would love to know in the comments what nail polish shades you don’t like with your skin tone. Are there any nail polishes you’ve purchased because they looked great in the bottle, but then not on you? It happens to all of us from time to time! The good thing is there is no guilt when it’s a super affordable polish like NYC New York Color!

Manicure March | NYC New York Color Long Wearing Nail Enamel in Empire State Blue

Happy Sunday! Today’s Manicure March post reviews another polish that I’ve been holding onto mainly for emotional reasons. You’re probably going to laugh, because it’s a super affordable polish from the brand NYC New York Color! I received Empire State Blue as a gift when I was graduating from college, and it meant a lot to me because it came from good friends and because I was moving to New York City. Nonetheless, I rarely wear this polish so I decided to test the formula out to see if I should keep it. Let me share this polish with all of you!

NYC New York Color Long Wearing Nail Enamel in Empire State Blue NYC New York Color Long Wearing Nail Enamel in Empire State Blue

Empire State Blue is a metallic blue polish with green and gold shimmer. The formula is good, but it does tend to get a bit goopy and thick. I applied two coats of Empire State Blue to get an opaque look, and I have to say it does look gorgeous. However, this is not a polish that I would wear on a regular basis. In fact, it’s been years since I’ve put it on. Since the formula isn’t perfect and I don’t wear this much, it’s time to say goodbye to Empire State Blue.

All in all, I’m so glad I tested out Empire State Blue again. While I do have great memories associated with the polish, it is silly to hold onto it just for that reason. This is the second polish of Manicure March that I’ve been able to destash after keeping it purely for emotional reasons. I see the light, people! My nail polish collection will soon only be filled with the best of the best.

Manicure March | NYC New York Color In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City

Happy Wednesday! Can you believe it’s week three of Manicure March? I hope you’ve enjoyed the posts thus far and find the individual reviews helpful. Today I have a swatch of a nail polish from the NYC New York Color In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry line. Phew! What a long name! Basically, this is the quick dry line from NYC New York Color. I love quick dry formulas, and reach for them quite often. However, I haven’t worn this particular nail polish since I first tried it on for the blog. Let me share Queen of the City with all of you!

NYC New York Color in a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City NYC New York Color in a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City

Queen of the City is a deep burgundy nail polish with burgundy shimmer. The formula is excellent, and applies smoothly to the nails in two opaque coats. I’m not typically a big fan of shimmer polishes, but Queen of the City is absolutely gorgeous! I can see myself wearing this polish in the fall for sure. I’m definitely a bit of a seasonal person when it comes to nail polish, so I think I’ll save Queen of the City for a while. I also want to share that this flawless formula is super glossy without a top coat!

All in all, I’m so in love with Queen of the City and will be keeping this in my stash. I always laugh when I see myself adoring dark nail polish. When I first began this blog I never wore a dark manicure. In fact, I was all about brights and neons. Oh, how my tastes have changed! I would love to know in the comments how your nail polish tastes have changed over the years, or if they haven’t. You can definitely see the evolution of my tastes on the blog!

Manicure March | NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Queen’s Jewels

Happy Saturday! We’re getting a bit Christmassy here in Manicure March today, because I have a green glitter to review. When I first began my blog, I was all about the glitter nail polish. In fact, I wore glitter nail polish almost every day! I slowly began to wear glitter less and less in my everyday life, but I still like to have a good glitter selection in my stash, especially for the holidays. I decided to try out Queen’s Jewels from NYC New York Color’s Crystal Couture line again to see if I should hold onto it. Let me show you this glittery goodness!

NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Queen's Jewels NYC New York Color Crystal Couture in Queen's JewelsQueen’s Jewels is a green glitter nail polish in a green jelly base. The formula is excellent, and it is opaque in two coats. I’m a huge fan of glitter polishes that can be worn alone. It just makes painting my nails a quicker and easier process! Queen’s Jewels is such a stunning polish, and while I won’t be putting it on often, I can’t get rid of it. I know this is perfect for Christmas, even if just as an accent nail. Plus, this is a limited edition polish that can no longer be purchased, so once I give it away it’s gone for good. I’m holding onto Queen’s Jewels for sure!

All in all, while I only plan on wearing Queen’s Jewels for specific occasions, this is definitely a polish I need to keep. I do find myself pressured to keep discontinued polishes, because I know I won’t be able to purchase them again if I regret destashing them. I would love to know in the comments if you hold onto discontinued polishes for that reason as well. I’m slowly becoming better at decluttering polishes I won’t wear, but it’s definitely a challenge!

Simple Glam Makeup Look featuring Rimmel London | All Drugstore Products

Happy Friday! Today I have a makeup look to share with you featuring products from the drugstore brand Rimmel London. I was recently sent a package from Rimmel filled with products to create a glam makeup look. I couldn’t wait to test out all of the goodies and share them with you! In this post I’ll first be sharing each product individually and my first impressions of the product. Then I’ll share my completed makeup look at the end! Let’s go ahead and get started with this simple glam makeup look using all drugstore products!

Simple Glam Makeup Look featuring Rimmel London | All Drugstore Products

THE PRODUCTS

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation

Lasting Finishing Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation – $7.99

I was really intrigued with this foundation. It claims to be a long-wearing, 25-hour formula, and it also is formulated to be full coverage. I received the shade Classic Ivory, which is a bit too dark for me right now. The formula is definitely a medium coverage, and I recommend it for those with combination or oily skin, because it does stick to dry patches. That being said, it dries to a beautiful semi-matte finish. I love the feel of it on the skin, and it wears nicely throughout the day. I think this is a good pick for a drugstore foundation!

Rimmel London Natural Bronzer Natural Bronzer – $5.99

I was a bit hesitant to try out this bronzer, but if you’re going for a glam look you might as well go all out! I’m really impressed with this bronzer. It applies so smoothly and blends out beautifully. It truly is a natural bronzer, and I highly recommend it for bronzer newbies like me. I received the shade Sun Bronze, which worked well with my fair complexion. I’m excited to continue using this product!

Rimmel Scandaleyes in Bulletproof BeigeScandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige – $4.59

I went for this shimmery gold eyeshadow stick for my entire eye look. I applied this cream shadow over the lid and into the crease. It’s a beautiful color, and because it’s shimmery it can stand on its own. I like that this is a no fuss product! Plus, because I was wearing a bold lip, I knew I could go lighter on the eyes.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Xtreme Mascara

Scandaleyes Xtreme Mascara – $6.99

I’ve had mixed luck with Rimmel mascaras in the past, but I have to say I am really impressed with this one! The brush has the rubbery texture that I like, and it definitely gives me both volume and length. The formula is a bit on the wet side, but I’m sure once it dries out a bit I will love it even more. I got the shade Black, and I highly recommend this one!

Rimmel London Moisture Renew LipstickMoisture Renew Lipstick – $7.99

Last but not least is the Moisture Renew Lipstick in Red Alert. While this shade is outside of my comfort zone, I am loving the formula! It definitely feels very moisturizing on the lips, and it applies very smoothly. I often feel weird when wearing lipstick, but I found this one very comfortable to wear. The red color is a bit staining, but I used a makeup remover wipe and that worked well. I will be checking out the other shades in this line for sure!

THE MAKEUP LOOK

Simple Glam Makeup Look featuring Rimmel London | All Drugstore ProductsHere is my final look! I used all drugstore products in this look, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I would wear this for a special occasion or a night out, or I would wear a lighter lip color for a day look. All of the products I used will be listed for your convenience.

All in all, I’m so glad I received these products from Rimmel to test out for all of you. I’m quite impressed with the great quality, especially with the mascara and lipstick. Rimmel is often on sale at the drugstore, and coupons can sometimes be found in the Sunday newspaper. I highly recommend trying out these products! Also, please let me know if you’ll be recreating this simple glam look!

NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Créme and BB Radiance Perfecting Powder Review

Happy Friday! Today I have a review of two new products from NYC New York Color’s Smooth Skin BB line. I was really excited to test out the BB Créme and BB Radiance Perfecting Powder because each retails for a fabulous and affordable $3.99 at the drugstore. The Smooth Skin line is designed to give you perfect skin in an instant. Let me go ahead and share my thoughts on these new products with you!

NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Créme and BB Radiance Perfecting Powder Review

NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Créme 5 in 1 Skin Perfector

NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Créme 5 in 1 Skin Perfector NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Créme 5 in 1 Skin PerfectorFirst up, I tested the BB Créme, which is a lightweight and liquid product just like any traditional BB créme. This 5 in 1 product is designed to protect skin, minimize pores, erase imperfections, smooth the skin, and brighten the skin. I am the shade 01 Light, which is the lightest shade available. I tried it both with a face primer and without. I much prefer to use it with a primer, because I found that the product disappears into my skin without that extra barrier. In order to get any coverage at all, I have to use a lot of this product – way more than I would ever use my normal BB crémes. I also found that the product has a scent that was off-putting. While I didn’t smell anything while it was on my face, I definitely smelled something during application. It made me not want to use the product at all! I did find that the BB Créme wore nicely throughout the day, and I liked the appearance of my skin overall. If you’re looking for a really affordable BB créme option, you might try this one for yourself. I, however, wouldn’t repurchase it for my skin.

NYC New York Color BB Radiance Perfecting Powder

NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Radiance Perfecting Powder NYC New York Color Smooth Skin BB Radiance Perfecting Powder

Next up I have the BB Radiance Perfecting Powder. This little compact comes with a mirror and sponge, and I love the sleek packaging. This product is designed to improve the appearance of the skin and even skin tone by smoothing fine lines and minimizing the appearance of pores. BB Radiance also provides a matte finish. My first impression of this product was that it is necessary to use a sponge for application – even a light hand with a brush crumbles the powder into a big mess. Despite using the lightest shade in the line, which is 01 Naturally Beige, the shade is too dark for my skin. I attempted to try it despite it not matching my skin, but the powder actually enhanced my pores and looked terrible on my skin. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it at all due to my experience.

All in all, I am a bit underwhelmed with the NYC New York Color Smooth Skin line. While the BB Créme is just okay for me, the BB Radiance did not work for my skin at all. As with any makeup products, my experience may vary from yours, because we all have different skin types. If you try out this line, please share your thoughts in the comments! I would love to know your experiences, as always.

Welcome to Halloween Week! | Halloween Cloud Nails

Happy Monday, and welcome to Halloween Week here at Adventures in Polishland! Two years ago I hosted a Halloween themed week on the blog, and I thought it would be fun to do one again this year. I think Halloween is a lot of fun, and my big sweet tooth enjoys it as well! Every day this week will feature something Halloween related, and I am also putting up two Halloween videos on my YouTube channel HERE. I’m kicking off the week with some simple Halloween nail art. Let me share with you my Halloween cloud nails!

Welcome to Halloween Week! Halloween Cloud Nails

WHAT YOU NEED / What I’m Using:

  • Black Nail Polish / NYC New York Color in Black Elixir
  • Orange Nail Polish / Zoya in Arizona [BUY]
  • Yellow Nail Polish / Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow [BUY]
  • Glossy Top Coat / Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat [BUY]

Halloween Cloud Nails | Halloween WeekHalloween Cloud Nails | Halloween Week

I’ve used the same Pinterest tutorial seen HERE to create my cloud nail for years now! I absolutely love how easy this design is to create. I began with a black base and let that dry. Then I added orange clouds, and finally the yellow clouds. Once the entire manicure was dry I added a glossy top coat to even out the edges. That’s all it takes to create this nail art, but it looks really cool. I always get a lot of compliments whenever I’m wearing this look.

All in all, Halloween Cloud Nails are easy to create, but perfect whether you’re handing out candy on Halloween or simply wanting to look more festive. The best part is this manicure can be recreated using whatever polishes you own, and can be worn any time of year depending on the colors you choose. It is my go-to nail art for sure. I thought this would be a fun way to kick off Halloween Week, and I hope you’re excited for more to come!

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow | Review + Swatches

Happy Wednesday! Today am excited to share with you four of the brand new City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow sticks from the brand NYC New York Color. These fabulous and affordable eyeshadow sticks are designed to glide on smooth and stay crease-proof all day. Each has a rich pigmentation and stunning shimmer that can be worn as eyeliner or a cream shadow. Let me go ahead and share my thoughts on these shadows with you!

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow | Review + SwatchesBefore I jump into individual reviews, I wanted to mention a few things that apply to all four shades I tried. I absolutely love the packaging on these shadow sticks. They are retractable, so you don’t have to worry about sharpening them. Plus, the cap snaps back on tightly so it doesn’t get lost. As for the formula, they all glide on really smoothly, but I do recommend wearing an eyeshadow primer to get the best pigmentation and crease-free look. I used the Manna Kadar Prime Time, which worked really well. Finally, these eyeshadows are truly long-wearing. While they do blend out well upon application, once they set you need an eye makeup remover to even budge them! I found the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes worked just fine.

Rockefeller Center Snowflakes

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow – Rockefeller Center SnowflakesRockefeller Center Snowflakes is a gorgeous white shadow with iridescent shimmer. I really love this shadow, but the formula is a bit patchy upon application so make sure your eyes are primed. Rockefeller Center Snowflakes can be used as a lid color, or even a brow bone highlight when blended out well.

Empire State Building

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow – Empire State BuildingIf you love a smoky eye, you need Empire State Building! This is a gorgeous graphite shade with green and purple shimmer. Empire State Building is a great eyeliner shade, but can definitely be blended on the lid for a night look. The shimmer in this shadow is not as noticeable, so I find Empire State Building one of the more wearable shades of the bunch.

East River Romance

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow – East River RomanceNext up is East River Romance, a vibrant blue shadow with blue and silver shimmer. This eyeshadow has almost a metallic finish, and is definitely the most shimmery of the bunch. I think it is beautiful smudged under the eye for a pop of color. I’m definitely intimidated by this bright shade, but it’s undeniable that the formula is great!

Madison Square Park

NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow – Madison Square ParkLast but not least is Madison Square Park, a deep emerald green with green and gold shimmer. Madison Square Park is my favorite of the bunch! This pigmented shadow is so smooth and creamy, and the color is really beautiful. I like that the shimmer is more subdued in this shade, too.

All in all, I’m really impressed with the NYC New York Color City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadows. The formulas are really great, and I’m amazed with the great pigmentation. The four shadows I shared with you today are part of a much larger collection of ten shades. You can find them at your local drugstore or department store for just $2.99 each. As always, NYC New York Color continues to amaze me with its quality products at such affordable products!

Will you be picking up any of these shadows?! Let me know in the comments!
