Manicure March | NYC New York Color In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City

Happy Wednesday! Can you believe it’s week three of Manicure March? I hope you’ve enjoyed the posts thus far and find the individual reviews helpful. Today I have a swatch of a nail polish from the NYC New York Color In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry line. Phew! What a long name! Basically, this is the quick dry line from NYC New York Color. I love quick dry formulas, and reach for them quite often. However, I haven’t worn this particular nail polish since I first tried it on for the blog. Let me share Queen of the City with all of you!

NYC New York Color in a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City NYC New York Color in a New York Color Minute Quick Dry in Queen of the City

Queen of the City is a deep burgundy nail polish with burgundy shimmer. The formula is excellent, and applies smoothly to the nails in two opaque coats. I’m not typically a big fan of shimmer polishes, but Queen of the City is absolutely gorgeous! I can see myself wearing this polish in the fall for sure. I’m definitely a bit of a seasonal person when it comes to nail polish, so I think I’ll save Queen of the City for a while. I also want to share that this flawless formula is super glossy without a top coat!

All in all, I’m so in love with Queen of the City and will be keeping this in my stash. I always laugh when I see myself adoring dark nail polish. When I first began this blog I never wore a dark manicure. In fact, I was all about brights and neons. Oh, how my tastes have changed! I would love to know in the comments how your nail polish tastes have changed over the years, or if they haven’t. You can definitely see the evolution of my tastes on the blog!

My 2014 Holiday Manicures! | 3 Nail Polish Looks

Happy Tuesday! Today I wanted to show you the three manicures I’ve worn so far this holiday season. I’ve already reviewed some of these polishes, so I will leave links to those blog posts alongside each manicure. I hope these nail polish looks bring you some inspiration as we head into the New Year! That reminds me – stay tuned for an exciting announcement very soon about my Annual New Year’s Eve Manicure Contest! For now, let me show you my 2014 holiday manicures.

NYC New York Color – Queen of the City

NYC New York Color – Queen of the City [REVIEW]

I started off the holidays with a red that isn’t so “in your face” Christmas. I really love Queen of the City because of its unique shade and shimmery formula. It looks amazing with my fair skin tone, and goes with a ton of different outfits as well. If you’re looking for an edgier manicure this holiday, grab a deep shade like this one.

Zoya – Giovanna Zoya – Giovanna [REVIEW]

Next I went for more of a true Christmas color with an emerald green polish. Giovanna is just perfect for this time of year! It’s festive but still really classy. You can also use Giovanna for nail art as well. I do recommend a nice layer of base coat with this polish, though, as it tends to stain a bit.

Glitzology – Island of Misfit Toys

Chrome Girl – Birthday Suit [REVIEW]

Finally, I am currently wearing a combination of Island of Misfit Toys and Birthday Suit. I got this Glitzology polish two years ago, but never used it! Unfortunately, this indie polish brand is now out of business, but to create a similar look use a glitter polish that contains fine silver glitters and larger multi-colored glitters. Feel free to use multiple glitter polishes if necessary! I decided to go with a pastel pink base so that all of the glitters would really stand out. It’s not quite your typical Christmas manicure, but I’m thrilled with the result!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my holiday manicures so far in 2014! Please let me know if you liked this post in the comments. I’d be happy to show off any more nail polish looks I put together through the holiday season. Of course, I want to see your holiday manicures as well. Please share a photo on my Facebook Page HERE or feel free to use the hashtag #PolishlandPresents so I can find your posts on any social media site. I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season!

NYC New York Color Limited Edition Fashion Queen Collection | In a New York Minute Polishes

Happy Thursday! This fall the brand NYC New York Color released an amazing, limited edition line called the Fashion Queen Collection to bring runway style to the street. I got the opportunity to review the polishes, and can’t wait to share them with all of you. Today’s post will feature the three In a New York Minute shades that are designed to be quick-dry formulas. Let me show you these fall polishes!

NYC New York Color – Royal Chic NYC New York Color – Royal ChicFirst up is Royal Chic, a deep brown creme shade that reminds me of chocolate! Royal Chic has a great formula that is opaque in two coats. I think this is quite a daring polish, but great if you want a deep polish that isn’t as harsh as a black. I also am impressed with the high-gloss finish Royal Chic has even without top coat!

NYC New York Color – Queen of the City NYC New York Color – Queen of the CityNext up is Queen of the City, a stunning burgundy polish with undertones of black. I am obsessed with Queen of the City! Not only is the formula amazing, but there is almost a duochrome effect in this polish. Queen of the City is the perfect polish for fall, and I feel super fabulous when wearing it!

NYC New York – Crown Gold NYC New York – Crown GoldLast but not least is Crown Gold, a yellow gold, metallic polish. Crown Gold also has an amazing formula and is opaque in two coats. This is one of my favorite gold polishes of all time. It looks so rich, and the pigmentation is great!

All in all, I’m really impressed with the three In a New York Minute polishes from the new Fashion Queen Collection. Of course, NYC New York Color is the perfect brand for those of us who are fabulous and affordable, since these polishes retail for just $1.99 each! You can purchase this line at your local drugstore or department store, so be sure to look for the limited edition display. Find a retailer near you by visiting the NYC New York Color website HERE. Stay tuned to see the six glitter polishes in this line – you don’t want to miss it!
