Happy Wednesday! Today I am super excited to share with you what I received in my March PLAY! by Sephora. Plus, I have a giveaway to share with you! I know a lot of you haven’t been able to join Sephora’s monthly subscription program yet. I was lucky to get off the wait list right away, and so I’m going to be giving back to one of you. First I’ll be sharing my unboxing as always, and the giveaway will be at the end. If you’d like to see a quick look at my February PLAY! by Sephora, I posted about it on Facebook HERE since I didn’t share a full unboxing during Manicure March. Without further ado, let me show you what I got in March!

March’s theme is The Perfection Collection, and features products to allow us to put our best face forward. To be honest, I don’t find the monthly themes to really be a good representation of what’s inside, but that is fine to me. I have no problem getting a random bunch of goodies from Sephora so long as they are products I’ll use!

Sephora The Perfectionist Sponge Sephora Collection The Perfectionist: Airbrush Sponge – $12.00 [BUY]

The first product I received is a beauty sponge from Sephora’s own collection. I am always up for trying a BeautyBlender dupe, so I’m very excited to test this out. I’m also glad we got a full size sponge that retails for more than the entire PLAY! by Sephora box! How awesome is that? I was just about to invest in a new BeautyBlender, but I’ll happily try this first. I’ll be sure to share my full thoughts on this product after testing it.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser – $4.47 [BUY]

I am also very excited to receive this cleanser from Fresh. I absolutely love this brand, but never do I purchase the products for myself because they are quite expensive. I’ve tried a sample of the Soy Face Exfoliant before and really liked it. I’ll be sure to keep this on hand for when my current cleanser runs out of product!

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield – $11.05 [BUY]

Another brand I love but don’t buy myself because of the high price tag is Murad. Inivisblur is a priming spray, which I feel is super trendy right now. I love that this contains SPF 30, and that it is designed to smooth out the skin. I will definitely be using this in the summer, because priming sprays are lighter than a standard primer.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil – $5.46 [BUY]

I also received a primer from Smashbox in my March box, this time in the form of a Primer Oil. I don’t usually like face oils because they tend to breakout my skin, but I’ve had great luck with the other primers from the Smashbox Photo Finish line so I hope I’ll like this, too. I’m definitely stocked up on primers for a while now!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (Black) – $6.65 [BUY]

Now we are getting to the part of the unboxing where I grumble about getting the same kind of products every month. I’ve received an eyeliner in my PLAY! by Sephora box four out of five times, and three of the four eyeliners have been black. As someone who doesn’t wear eyeliner more than a few times a year, this is quite frustrating. Even if I wore eyeliner every day I would find it annoying! I appreciate that I get to try high end brands, but there are so many different beauty products we could be receiving. Why not mascara? Why not blush? Why not nail polish? Please mix it up in the future, Sephora!

Replica Beach Walk Perfume – $1.47 [BUY]

The last product is a perfume sample, and if you’ve been reading my PLAY! by Sephora posts from the beginning you’ll know I don’t enjoy receiving these. Sephora gives these samples away for free in online orders and in the store, and I’d much rather go to the store and pick a scent that works for me. I would love to stop getting these in my subscription and instead receive a deluxe skincare or makeup sample.

Overall, I have mostly positive things to say about my March PLAY! by Sephora subscription. The box has a total retail vale of $41.10, and I am excited about four of the six products. I am definitely getting my money’s worth! My box also came with a little plastic tub that I can bring into Sephora and be matched for a foundation. That’s a fun incentive to go shopping! I’m going to continue with this subscription for sure!

How does the contest work?

Create your manicure and email me a photo of your nails to adventuresinpolishland@gmail.com with the subject line “NYE Manicure Contest”
You may include a 1-3 sentence description of your manicure explaining why you chose it for New Year’s Eve, but this is optional.
There is only one entry per person, and one photo allowed per entry.
The deadline for submitting your manicure is Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:59PM EST
On January 5, I will post all of the entries in a photo album on my Facebook Page HERE and email each entrant a direct link to her photo.
On January 12, winners will be chosen and notified by email.

How will the winners be chosen?

There are two winners in this giveaway!
One winner will be chosen by popular vote – whichever manicure receives the most ‘Likes’ on Facebook. The Likes must be on the photo I upload to my Facebook Page directly.

I like to start off any eyeshadow look with an eye base using a cream eyeshadow. The Maybelline Color Tattoo products are excellent quality, and can be purchased on Amazon for just $4.99! I recommend the shade Barely Branded, which is a light tan shade with just a hint of shimmer. You can wear it alone or layer under other eyeshadows. Plus, it’s easy to apply with your fingers!

EYESHADOWMeasurable Difference Eyeshadow Palette – Desert Nights [BUY]

I always recommend a neutral eyeshadow palette for beginners. Neutrals are easy to wear during the day and at night, and look good on anyone! The Desert Nights palette from Measurable Difference contains five different shades from light to dark that can create a variety of eye looks. This palette retails for only $6.99 as well, so you can try a good amount of shades for an affordable price tag!

EYELINER

Covergirl Intensify Me! Eyeliner Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner [BUY]

If you have trouble applying eyeliner, I strongly recommend the new Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner. The tip of the liner is sturdy, and has both a flat side and a skinny side so you can get a really precise line. I love that the liner on this product is a really dark black, and I never experience skipping during application. There is no reason to fear liquid liner with this product!

MASCARA

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes [BUY]

Last but not least, my favorite eye product is mascara. The L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes is one of my all-time favorite mascaras, and I recently repurchased it for the first time in a couple years. It gives a really full look to the lashes, and truly lives up to the voluminous name. I highly recommend it!

JGOB Blending Sponge for Beauty | Review + Giveaway

Happy Friday! Today I am excited to bring you a review of a beauty sponge from the brand JGOB. You all know that I love the BeautyBlender, but I don’t love the $20 price tag. That being said, I’ve stuck with the BeautyBlender because I haven’t found a more affordable option that works. When I got the opportunity to try the JGOB Blending Sponge, I couldn’t resist. It is about $8 cheaper than a BeautyBlender, which is a decent savings. Let me share my thoughts on the sponge, and stay tuned to the end for a giveaway!

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

The JGOB Blending Sponge comes in 11 colors and in a screw-top travel case. I got the neon green to review. The sponge is designed to reduce waste by having the perfect density so the makeup goes on your face without getting trapped in the sponge. JGOB also designed the sponge to be soft to the touch and the perfect shape to work on all areas of the face. Finally, the sponge is easy to clean and use again.

MY THOUGHTS

As you can see, the sponge is very similar to the BeautyBlender in size and shape. It does feel very soft to the touch in my hand, but it also feels much denser than the BeautyBlender. This made me very nervous to use the product. However, I was so surprised when I went to apply my foundation! The JGOB sponge applies my foundation even better than a BeautyBlender. I definitely find that more product ends up on my face than usual, and I get a beautiful finish. The one main drawback for me is that the sponge is a bit rough on my face. I do use it damp, but it is nowhere near as soft as a BeautyBlender. That being said, I think that is a fair trade-off for having such an amazing application.

I also used the JGOB Blending Sponge with my favorite CC Cream. I didn’t enjoy that result quite as much, but it was still comparable to how it applies with the BeautyBlender. Finally, I did wash the sponge and the product came out nicely. The sponge was stained a little, but the majority of product washed out easily. I’m really impressed!

FINAL THOUGHTS

All in all, I am really loving the JGOB Blending Sponge! I’ve been reaching for it to apply my foundation all the time now! I still really love my BeautyBlenders, as they feel super soft on the skin, but if you are really on a budget and want a comparable product, I highly recommend this sponge. Today I have a review of some laundry bags from the brand HaveSome Goods. I’ve been wanting to get some wash bags for delicate items because a lot of my items were getting damaged in the washing machine. Of course, I could hand wash everything, but who has the time for that?! I was so excited when I got the opportunity to review the aptly titled The Best Delicates Laundry Wash Bags. Let me show you how they work, and share my experience with them! Plus, stay tuned to the end of the post for a giveaway!

ABOUT THE PRODUCT & MY EXPERIENCE

The Best Delicates Laundry Wash Bags come in a set of three bags in the sizes small, medium, and large. The mesh fabric is designed to be strong yet soft, and can be put in both the washing machine and dryer. I really like the bright colors on the zippers, as it adds a pop of color to the bag that is purely decorative, but makes the bags a bit more fun to use. I decided to put all three to the test in one load of laundry right from the start!

There are two things that I absolutely love about these wash bags. First, the mesh fabric is thick enough to not snag in the washing machine, and I know it will hold up for many washes. At the same time, it allows for the soap and water to still pass through freely so your clothing will be thoroughly washed. My items came out smelling just as fresh and clean as always, and the bags held up perfectly through the washing and drying process.In addition, I also love the elastic band detail around the zipper closure. It allows you to hide the zipper so that it is not clanging around in the washer and dryer. It is a small detail, but one that is pure genius. Not only will you not hear that annoying clanging noise, but the zipper will not get caught on anything else in the laundry. I’m really impressed!

Finally, I wanted to mention how much you can fit in these bags! I placed two bras in the small bag, and there was definitely room for one more. I put two delicate blouses in the medium bag, and at least one or two more could fit in there as well. Lastly, I put one of my big cozy sweaters in the large bag. The large bag could hold more items for sure, but I wanted that sweater to go in alone because it has a tendency to snag easily. As you can see, these bags are perfect whether you’re doing just your laundry or your entire family’s!

Luckily for me the Mens Fragrance department is on the first floor of the store, so I didn’t have to travel too far. I asked an employee for help finding the Nautica Votage Gift Set, and she knew just where it was on the shelf!

Ta da! There it is – right on top of the display case! I guess Macy’s is making sure to be prepared for Father’s Day! Whether you’re shopping at the Herald Square location or at your local store, I highly recommend asking an employee for help. Messy Mansion Stamping Plate MM38 Review & Giveaway | #3YearsinPolishland with Beautometry

Happy Wednesday! On April 10, I celebrated my 3rd Blogiversary! I decided to host three giveaways, and here is giveaway number three! I’m still a stamping newbie, but I couldn’t wait to test out this plate from Messy Mansion. REVIEW

Beautometry sent me Messy Mansion stamping plate in MM38. It is so cute! It includes owls, trees, birdhouses, and other cute forest designs. I snapped a picture with the protective plastic still on the plate so you can clearly see the designs. You can purchase this plate on Beautometry’s website for $7.00 HERE.

I decided to do some nail art with owls in trees. I began with a white base, and then used a green polish to add on the background. I’m so happy with how the first stamping layer turned out! It looks vintage and was easy to apply. Once that dried, I added on a few owls with a brown polish. They turned out well, too, but got a bit lost on the busy background. I will go ahead and say these owls are camouflaged, just like they would be in nature! Next time I will do the owls on a plain background so you can really see how cute they are!

Evian Facial Spray | Review + Giveaway

Happy Wednesday! Today I am excited to share with you a really cool product from the brand Evian. You may recognize this name from bottled water, but did you know the company also makes a facial spray?! I got the opportunity to test out all of the spray’s different uses so I could share my thoughts on the product with you. Of course, stay tuned to the end to find out how you could win a free bottle for yourself!

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Evian Facial Spray is a versatile product that can fit into anyone’s daily beauty routine! I was quite intrigued when I read about all of its different uses. First and foremost, it’s helpful to know that Evian is a safe and pure mineral water that can be used with all skin types, even those that are sensitive. My skin tends to be a bit on the sensitive side, and I had no issues whatsoever using this product (it’s been a part of my routine for a few weeks now!). Let’s take a look at all of the different ways you can use Evian Facial Spray. I’m providing you with the language from the brand directly:

“To create intense color: Spray your brush with evian® Facial Spray before applying colorful or metallic eyeshadow to create intense, bold colors that don’t look chalky.

For contouring and blending: Before blending bronzer with foundation, wet a Beauty Blender or other blending tool with evian® Spray to create an airbrushed, flawless look. You can also use evian® Facial Spray to blend foundation along the jawline and neck to eliminate unwanted foundation lines.

To set makeup: After applying foundation and/or powder, lightly mist skin with evian® Facial Spray in a circular motion to set foundation and/or powder for a more natural look.

To revive color throughout the day: Using evian® Facial Spray any time during the day can instantly revive color to help makeup look fresh and vibrant even hours after makeup was applied. For best results, lightly mist skin in a circular motion. Can be kept in the office, gym bag, or purse to freshen up makeup after work, before a party, or any time you need a quick touch up.”

REVIEW

As I mentioned above, I’ve been using Evian Facial Spray for a few weeks now. I absolutely love using it right before I put on my makeup. I’ll spray my skin so it is moisturized, and then apply my primer. I find this really locks in my makeup and allows it to glide onto my face much easier than usual. In addition, I use the Evian Facial Spray to dampen my BeautyBlender before applying my foundation. It truly helps to blend out my foundation, while still providing me with great coverage. I can see the difference in my skin, as I feel more airbrushed and flawless.

I also like to use Evian Facial Spray to refresh my skin throughout the day. It feels so great to add a quick spray to the face if it is hot outside, or if I’m feeling gross after a long day at work. I can see this product being a complete lifesaver in the summertime. I haven’t traveled with the spray yet, but I like that the bottle is designed to be leak-proof so I don’t have to worry about any spillage. In addition, each bottle is sealed in a way so that bacteria cannot get in to contaminate the spray. I love that I can feel safe and clean while using this product!

My one critique of the Evian Facial Spray is that the mist is quite wide and tends to go everywhere. Even when I’m just aiming for my face, my hair and my shirt will get wet as well. Though the spray does dry in seconds, I alway try to use it before I put on any nice clothes, or before my hair is done. Of course, it is just water, but I wish I had more control with the application, like I do with other makeup setting sprays. This is a minor flaw in an otherwise great product!
