Why I Returned the Lush Cosmetics No Drought Dry Shampoo | Lush Dry Shampoo Review

Happy Sunday! Today I am excited to share my thoughts on the Lush Cosmetics No Drought Dry Shampoo. One of my goals this year is to go as zero waste as possible, and that includes my beauty products. When it came time for me to buy a new dry shampoo, I decided to purchase the one from Lush. I wanted a dry shampoo that was not in aerosol form (learn why that is bad for the environment HERE), and also one with ethical packaging. I love that the Lush plastic bottles are made with 100% post-consumer plastic, so I decided to try No Drought. Unfortunately, I made the decision to return this product to the store when it did not work for me.

The No Drought Dry Shampoo claims to be a formula that absorbs excess oils and adds volume to the hair. I spoke with a sales associate at my local store before purchasing, because I was concerned the white powder wouldn’t blend in well with my light brown hair, and she assured me that wouldn’t be a problem. She also mentioned that this product does a great job at absorbing oils. While I was able to get the dry shampoo to blend in just fine with my hair color, this product was, unfortunately, quite ineffective in my hair. In fact, my hair looked and felt even dirtier and greasier whenever I used this product!

The issue, for me, lies in the fact that this is a texturizing dry shampoo. Over the years I’ve found that dry shampoos fall into one of two camps: dry shampoos that absorb oil and dry shampoos that texturize. I steer clear of texturizing dry shampoos because I have very fine hair. When texture is added, it weighs my hair down, and makes it cling together. I tried a few different techniques with No Drought in an attempt to get it to work for me, but my hair always came out feeling very heavy and greasy. After about a month of use, I made the decision to return this product to the store. I try to never return used beauty products, as I know they cannot be resold to other customers, but I was very let down that I spent $15.95 on a product that was not living up to its claims. I certainly did not achieve the promised matte finish!

In the end, I would only recommend the Lush Cosmetics No Drought Dry Shampoo if you enjoy using texturizing hair products. For instance, if you have thick hair, this may work better for you than it did for me. That being said, I will still continue to purchase other products from Lush, especially those that come packaging free. As for dry shampoo, I am now testing the one from Verb sold at Ulta (shop HERE).

HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection Review

Happy Wednesday! Today I am excited to review a hair care collection from the brand HASK for all of you. If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you’ll know I am obsessed with charcoal skincare products. My skin absolutely loves charcoal, as it removes impurities from the skin and leaves it looking clear. I was hoping that a charcoal hair care line would really boost my hair’s health and appearance as well. Let me share my thoughts on the HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection with all of you!

HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection ReviewI received the shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner from the HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection, plus a HASK hair brush. This line is formulated to give your hair a deep clean and remove all the impurities in your hair, whether it be from product use or anything else. Charcoal attracts and removes impurities, and the line also includes Vitamin C to clarify hair without stripping away moisture. The entire line is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, drying alcohol, and artificial colors. I really appreciate that the line is more on the natural side!

HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection ReviewI used this line for about three weeks, and unfortunately had to discontinue use because it was starting to irritate my scalp. After about 1-2 weeks of use, I noticed I had a lot of breakouts on my scalp. I figured this was because the charcoal was working, and all of the impurities in my scalp and hair were being released. At first I ignored the breakouts, because they weren’t bothering me at all. However, at about 2.5 weeks, my scalp got very itchy and it was bothering me all day long. I did one more use after that, but when the issue didn’t go away I decided to discontinue use immediately. After going back to my regular shampoo, my scalp already feels better after just a few uses. I do tend to have a sensitive scalp that gets dry and flaky, but I’ve never had an issue like this before, and I’m quite frankly surprised that this line irritated me. I’ve used charcoal products on my face and body regularly for a few years now without issue. Whatever the reason, I had to mention this experience with you in case you also have a sensitive scalp.

That being said, my hair itself did feel a lot stronger and cleaner than it normally does while I was using this system. It did get more tangly, but it looked more radiant. The shampoo and conditioner work up to a nice lather even though it is sulfate free, and it doesn’t have a strong scent. It’s too bad the system irritated my scalp, because my hair seemed to be enjoying it.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection ReviewI used the Purifying Deep Conditioner twice during the three weeks I used the system – once in the first week and once in the second. I didn’t see a big change in my hair after using this deep conditioner, and my hair felt quite weighed down for the next day or two. I do have very fine hair, so it is weighed down easily. However, I don’t typically have an issue with deep conditioners. This one just didn’t seem to do much for me, although it could change my hair over time with regular use.

HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection Review
HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection Review

The last product I received is also my favorite of the bunch! HASK included this small brush, and I’m loving it. The brush reminds me of my holy grail brush, The Wet Brush, but isn’t quite as gentle. I love the cute design on the brush, and the size makes it perfect for travel. I’m going to continue using this for sure!

All in all, I had a hit and miss experience with the HASK Charcoal Purifying Hair Care Collection. It’s difficult for me to say whether or not I recommend this line. If you have a sensitive scalp, I definitely think you should stay away from this range, but if you don’t you are probably okay to try it out. The good news is HASK is a very fabulous and affordable brand! The shampoo and conditioner retail for just $5.99 each, with the deep conditioner being $2.99. You can learn more on HASK’s website HERE and shop online at Ulta. If you’ve tried HASK, please share your experience in the comments!

Birchbox Haul | Hair Care & Makeup

Happy Friday! It’s the last day of Haul Week here on the blog! Today I have a small haul from Birchbox. Although I am no longer subscribed to the Birchbox subscription program, I had saved up $10 worth of points that were expiring this month. I decided to use my points and pick up a hair care favorite, plus a few other goodies. Let me show you what I got – all for $25!

Birchbox Haul Hair Care & MakeupPerhaps you didn’t know that in addition to its subscription program, Birchbox has an amazing online store! It’s a bit like Sephora, but there are often sales and coupons, and even freebies! There is a rewards system as well called Birchbox Points. While subscribers earn points very frequently, anyone can earn points just by shopping online. Each dollar spent is one point earned, and 100 points equals $10. I always save my points, but because they expire in a year’s time, I needed to use them right away!

Birchbox Haul | Hair Care & MakeupFirst, let me share the products I purchased. I had to grab my holy grail dry shampoo from Klorane. No matter how many dry shampoos I try, this one is still a favorite. Unfortunately, it costs $20, so I only pick it up when there is a deal. I also decided to purchase a trio of mini lip glosses from Cythnia Rowley. I received one of these glosses in a Birchbox last year and really loved it, so I grabbed it for $15. I am a little disappointed with how tiny these glosses are, but I’m still happy with them. I’ll have a full blog post showing them off soon!

Birchbox Haul | Hair Care & MakeupThe rest of the items in this haul were freebies! I got an email from Birchbox with a coupon code for this travel size dry shampoo from Living Proof along with the L. Erickson headband. I’ve been doing PiYo for over a month now, so this headband really comes in handy for my short hair. Plus, I am always up for drying out another dry shampoo. Maybe this one will beat out Klorane!

Birchbox Haul | Hair Care & MakeupFinally, Birchbox has a Bonus Shop that lets you add additional freebies to your order depending on what you buy. I always go for the Mystery Sample Pack. If you spend $35 or more, you can add this pack to your order for free. It contains two deluxe samples, but you don’t know what they are. This time I got the Templespa In Good Condition Hair Conditioner and Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Blue Lagoon. These are great products, but I think I’ll be passing them on this time.

All in all, I’m really happy with this Birchbox purchase! I do miss the subscription program, but still recommend it for those of you who have an extra $10 to spend each month. You can subscribe using my referral link HERE if you’re interested.

Keranique Clean & Condition Set Review | #KeraniqueHair

Happy Wednesday! Today I have a review of a high end shampoo and conditioner set from the brand Keranique. I was so excited to receive the Clean & Condition set because I have very fine hair that is pretty dull and flat. I’m always looking to improve the health of my hair, and if I can give it some added volume in the process that is a win-win situation. At the same time, I’m on a budget, so it’s rare that I purchase high end products. I had very high hopes for the Keranique Clean & Condition Set! Let me share more information on these products and my experience with all of you.

Keranique Clean & Condition Set Review | #KeraniqueHair

The Keranique Clean & Condition Set comes with the Scalp Stimulating Shampoo and the Volumizing Keratin Conditioner. Together they are designed to gently clean and stimulate the scalp to nourish and rejuvenate hair follicles. The Scalp Stimulating Shampoo is formulated to help improve the volume, thickness, and strength of thinning hair, as well as the hair’s lustre. The Volumizing Conditioner contains Keratin, and is designed to help thicken and volumize thin hair without weighing it down. I used the system for about two and a half weeks, and was hoping for great results. I’m going to talk about the shampoo and conditioner separately, and then round out my thoughts.

Keranique Scalp Stimulating Shampoo

I overall like the Scalp Stimulating Shampoo. It is clear in color, and doesn’t have a scent. I used it as directed and let it sit on my hair for one to two minutes before rinsing. I didn’t notice any tingling or feeling on the scalp, and my hair felt really clean after using this shampoo. Basically, this shampoo didn’t wow me, but it seemed to work just fine.

Keranique Volumizing Keratin ConditionerThe Volumizing Keratin Conditioner is definitely a unique product! It contains peppermint and menthol, so there is a cooling sensation on the scalp when you let it sit for the suggested one to two minutes. This sensation was very strong the first time I used the conditioner, but either I got used to it, or the product didn’t activate as much as I continued use. If you have very sensitive skin, I would keep that in mind before purchasing this product.

Moreover, I wanted to talk about my experience with this system. I noticed that after about two weeks of use in which I used the products every other day, my hair became very dry and finicky. I had to pull out a detangling spray for the first time in several months, and I also grabbed hair oil to treat my hair. After experiencing this dryness, I decided to discontinue use and switched back to my normal haircare routine.

All in all, I am quite disappointed with the Keranique Clean & Condition Set. While I did feel my hair getting a bit thicker, I know that this formula was hurting my hair instead of helping it. As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, I do have thin hair that I would consider a bit sensitive. That being said, just because Keranique didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it’s a bad product. We all have different hair types, and mine just doesn’t mesh well with Keranique. If you would like to learn more about Keranique, please visit the brand’s site HERE. You can receive 25% off any Keranique purchase through 12/31/15 with the code THICKER25 at checkout.

My Current Hair Care Favorites featuring The Detangler

Happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to share some of my current hair care favorites with all of you. At the beginning of the summer, my hair was at its worst. It was dull, falling out, and badly needed a trim. This was all due to stress (it was bar study time!). Luckily, I’ve been able to care for it the past month and restore it to a healthier state. My hair is still very thin, but the shine is back, and it feels a lot stronger. Plus, I recently got a hair cut, so it looks much better, too. When I received The Detangler for review, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to share all of my hair care favorites. If you’ve been struggling with your hair lately, I hope these products will help you, too!

My Current Hair Care Favorites | L'Oreal Advanced Haircare Triple ResistL’Oreal Advanced Haircare – Triple Resist Reinforcing Shampoo & Conditioner [BUY]

The shampoo and conditioner system that I am using at the moment is the Triple Resist line from L’Oreal Advanced Haircare. I’ve loved the Advanced Haircare range since it first came out, and have tried several of the different formulas. Triple Resist is perfect for my fine and damaged hair, as it is designed to nourish the hair, reinforce strands, and resist breakage. While the ingredients used in this line are not necessarily the best, my hair always reacts really well to them. Plus, this line is really affordable and goes on sale often. Of course, there are almost always coupons available!

Mark Hill Slick Chick De-Frizz Shampoo | Suave Natural Infusion with MacadamiaMark Hill Slick Chick De-Frizz Shampoo [BUY] & Suave Natural Infusion Macadamia Conditioner [BUY]

While I don’t like to have too many open products in the shower at once, I do try to have a spare shampoo and conditioner so that I can change up my routine once in a while. Right now I have the Mark Hill Slick Chick De-Frizz Shampoo for days where I know I need some extra de-frizzing, such as in high humidity weather. In addition, I also have the Suave Natural Infusion Macadamia Moisturizing Conditioner. Despite being super inexpensive, this Suave conditioner is really nourishing, and helped bring my hair from stress mess to super sleek. It’s amazing, and smells great, too!

My Current Hair Care Favorites | TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer SprayTRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray [BUY]

In the summer I don’t use too many hair styling products, but I always use a heat protectant. I got the TRESemmé Heat Tamer simply because it was the most affordable at the drugstore. I really like it! It doesn’t weigh down my hair, it applies evenly, and it leaves my hair shiny but not greasy. There’s not anything too exciting about it, but it sure does its job!

My Current Hair Care Favorites featuring The Detangler
My Current Hair Care Favorites featuring The Detangler

The Detangler [BUY]

I’ve been a huge fan of detangler brushes for the past few years. My fine and finicky hair really loves The Detangler. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and truly works to prevent pain and breakage. I notice that it doesn’t pull out my hair like other brushes do, and I don’t have to work through difficult tangles. I love the cute design on The Detangler as well. Plus, it is smaller than the brushes made by its competitors, so it is perfect for travel or for kids. I will never go back to using regular hair brushes! They are way too rough for my hair. Of course, I also love that The Detangler is fabulous and affordable at just $10.99!

I hope you enjoyed learning about my current hair care favorites! I do change up my routine each season when the weather changes, so if you’d like to hear what I use in the colder months, let me know in the comments. In addition, please share your hair care favorites so I can try them out, too!

TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo Review

Happy Saturday! A few weeks ago I posted a review of the drugstore dry shampoo Batiste (read that review HERE). That review did really well views wise, so I thought I would share my thoughts on another dry shampoo that I just used up. As I mentioned in my Batiste review, I am currently on the hunt for the best dry shampoo from the drugstore. I found the TRESemmé Fresh Start on sale at Rite Aid for $4.99 a couple months back, so I decided to put it to the test. Let me share my thoughts on this product with you!

TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo ReviewThe TRESemmé Fresh Start is a very interesting dry shampoo. Usually I find that a dry shampoo either zaps oil or adds texture, but the Fresh Start did a little bit of both. While my oil did disappear quite a bit, this product left behind a lot of residue and left my hair feeling really gunky. My hair looked clean, but I felt gross. It was a weird dichotomy, and I couldn’t decide if I liked the product or not!

TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo ReviewThe more I used Fresh Start, the more I disliked it. I found the product difficult to wash out in the shower, and it tended to flake as well. If you have thick hair, this product would probably work better for you, but my thin hair felt weighed down. Despite the great price point, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this dry shampoo again.

Alas, my hunt for the perfect drugstore dry shampoo continues! While TRESemmé Fresh Start was okay, it just didn’t measure up to my beloved Klorane dry shampoo. I’m not giving up, though! I will find a fabulous and affordable dry shampoo that I love at some point!

What dry shampoo is your favorite? Do you splurge on it?

Batiste Dry Shampoo | Is it Worth the Hype?!

Happy Saturday! Today I have a review on one of the most hyped hair products on the market – Batiste Dry Shampoo! Ever since I discovered dry shampoo a few years ago I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect formula. I’ve tried about 10 different brands now, and my favorite is still the high-end Klorane Dry Shampoo at about $19 a bottle. I usually save up my Birchbox points to splurge on it once in a while, but I keep testing brands from the drugstore hoping I’ll find an affordable option. I decided it was time to put the famous Batiste to the test!

Batiste Dry Shampoo | Is it Worth the Hype?! Batiste Dry Shampoo retails for about $5.99 at Target and other drugstores and department stores. There are several different scents and varieties (i.e. for blonde hair, brunette hair, etc.). I decided to test out the Original Clean & Classic. I definitely liked the fresh scent, and I loved how it absorbed the oils in my hair quickly. Any dry shampoo that can zap oil without adding texture is a winner for me! I have to say, Batiste is the only drugstore dry shampoo that came somewhat close to matching my beloved Klorane.

http://goto.target.com/c/163541/81938/2092That being said, I did notice that my can of Batiste ran out of product very quickly. Batiste contains 6.73 fl oz of product, which is more than many dry shampoos. Right now I am using TRESemmé dry shampoo, which has a net weight of 4.3 fl oz, but it’s lasted me for a couple months already and is still going strong. When I compare that to the month or so I got from Batiste, I’m not sure why I ran out of Batiste so quickly. Perhaps it’s because I needed more product to get the result I wanted. Thus, even though I really liked Batiste, it might not be as cost effective as other drugstore brands.

All in all, I’m so glad I finally tried out Batiste. Is it worth the hype? Well, it’s a great product and it works well. However, it still isn’t my favorite dry shampoo. I am definitely going to keep searching for the perfect dry shampoo at an affordable price, and perhaps pick up Batiste when it’s on sale. Let me know your favorite dry shampoo in the comments – maybe I’ll test it out!

______________________

Happy Wednesday! Today I have a really exciting review to share with all of you. I got the opportunity to test out the new T3 Twirl 360 Motion-Sensing Auto-Rotating Styling Iron. In plain English, it’s a curling iron that rotates through a mechanism in the iron – no twirling or coordination necessary! I am not a hair stylist, and I didn’t even own a curling iron before testing out the Twirl 360. Part of the reason for that is due to my hair type. I have very thin hair that is naturally wavy, but that doesn’t hold curl. I typically flat iron my hair on a daily basis, and run out the door. I hoped the Twirl 360 would help me put together a fabulous look.

ABOUT THE TWIRL 360

The T3 Twirl 360 is a one-of-a-kind styling iron that features an auto-rotating barrel to create beautiful curls and waves by simply pressing a button! It has gyroscopic technology, which is used in aviation, space exploration, and hi-tech electronic devises, and is used for its sensitivity and precision. Gyroscopic technology detects motion and triggers the automatic barrel movement when you simply twist your wrist and let the iron know you’re ready to curl.

Take a look at this how-to video direct from the brand. I watched this video several times before I began using the Twirl 360! It’s definitely very helpful.

REVIEW

The Twirl 360 definitely has a learning curve. At first, I had a lot of trouble even getting my hair to curl at all! I tested out different techniques and heat settings, and quickly found that practice makes perfect. I like to use the slow speed and the second heat setting, and I typically hold my curls on the iron for about 15 seconds before releasing them from the barrel. Let me show you a step by step photo collage!

1. Before Picture

Here is my natural hair. I’m not wearing any product besides heat protectant. As you can see, it’s wavy, but very frizzy. I really don’t like it!

T3 Twirl 360 Review | Before

2. Curls Pinned Up

Here I am with my curls pinned up after the twirling process. It looks silly, but it helps to keep the curls in place. I left my hair like this for about 10-15 minutes. It doesn’t take very look for my hair to cool. If you want your curls to last all day, I recommend using a hair spray during this step.

3. Letting the Curls Down

Here are my crazy ringlets after I took the pins out! I’m pretty impressed! My hair never gets this curly!

T3 Twirl 360 Review | Letting the Curls Down

4. The Finished Look

I used my fingers to gently break apart the curls. I tried using a paddle brush, but found that was too much on my thin hair. By gently using my fingers, I am able to break apart the curls without creating frizz. I’m loving the result! I feel pretty glamorous!

FINAL THOUGHTS & WHERE TO BUY

I have to say I am really impressed with the T3 Twirl 360. I was pretty frustrated when I first used it, but after I got the hang of it I am definitely hooked. I wouldn’t use this curling iron every day, because it is pretty time consuming. However, if I wanted curly hair for a special occasion I think this tool comes in handy for sure. If you like to get blowouts regularly, I highly recommend the T3 Twirl 360. It is quite an investment at $230, but going to the salon for a similar look starts at $40! The Twirl 360 will pay for itself in about 5 uses when you consider the tax & tip you’d be spending at the salon. It is available on Sephora’s website HERE, which is awesome because that means you can use Ebates to earn cash back! If you’re in the market for a new curling iron, the T3 Twirl 360 is the way to go!

Have you tried any products from T3? Would you pick up an auto-rotating curling iron? Tell me in the comments!

Evian Facial Spray | Review + Giveaway

Happy Wednesday! Today I am excited to share with you a really cool product from the brand Evian. You may recognize this name from bottled water, but did you know the company also makes a facial spray?! I got the opportunity to test out all of the spray’s different uses so I could share my thoughts on the product with you. Of course, stay tuned to the end to find out how you could win a free bottle for yourself!

Evian Facial Spray | Review + Giveaway

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Evian Facial Spray is a versatile product that can fit into anyone’s daily beauty routine! I was quite intrigued when I read about all of its different uses. First and foremost, it’s helpful to know that Evian is a safe and pure mineral water that can be used with all skin types, even those that are sensitive. My skin tends to be a bit on the sensitive side, and I had no issues whatsoever using this product (it’s been a part of my routine for a few weeks now!). Let’s take a look at all of the different ways you can use Evian Facial Spray. I’m providing you with the language from the brand directly:

“To create intense color: Spray your brush with evian® Facial Spray before applying colorful or metallic eyeshadow to create intense, bold colors that don’t look chalky.

For contouring and blending: Before blending bronzer with foundation, wet a Beauty Blender or other blending tool with evian® Spray to create an airbrushed, flawless look. You can also use evian® Facial Spray to blend foundation along the jawline and neck to eliminate unwanted foundation lines.

To set makeup: After applying foundation and/or powder, lightly mist skin with evian® Facial Spray in a circular motion to set foundation and/or powder for a more natural look.

To revive color throughout the day: Using evian® Facial Spray any time during the day can instantly revive color to help makeup look fresh and vibrant even hours after makeup was applied. For best results, lightly mist skin in a circular motion. Can be kept in the office, gym bag, or purse to freshen up makeup after work, before a party, or any time you need a quick touch up.”

REVIEW

As I mentioned above, I’ve been using Evian Facial Spray for a few weeks now. I absolutely love using it right before I put on my makeup. I’ll spray my skin so it is moisturized, and then apply my primer. I find this really locks in my makeup and allows it to glide onto my face much easier than usual. In addition, I use the Evian Facial Spray to dampen my BeautyBlender before applying my foundation. It truly helps to blend out my foundation, while still providing me with great coverage. I can see the difference in my skin, as I feel more airbrushed and flawless.

I also like to use Evian Facial Spray to refresh my skin throughout the day. It feels so great to add a quick spray to the face if it is hot outside, or if I’m feeling gross after a long day at work. I can see this product being a complete lifesaver in the summertime. I haven’t traveled with the spray yet, but I like that the bottle is designed to be leak-proof so I don’t have to worry about any spillage. In addition, each bottle is sealed in a way so that bacteria cannot get in to contaminate the spray. I love that I can feel safe and clean while using this product!

My one critique of the Evian Facial Spray is that the mist is quite wide and tends to go everywhere. Even when I’m just aiming for my face, my hair and my shirt will get wet as well. Though the spray does dry in seconds, I alway try to use it before I put on any nice clothes, or before my hair is done. Of course, it is just water, but I wish I had more control with the application, like I do with other makeup setting sprays. This is a minor flaw in an otherwise great product!

Products I’ve Used Up #4

Happy Friday! It’s time for another products I’ve used up post here at Adventures in Polishland. It always feels great to use up products that I purchase. Let’s get right into my empties, and I’ll share mini-reviews of each product.

HAIR CARE

Products I've Used Up | Hair CareI used up two dry shampoos recently. First is my all-time favorite, the Klorane Dry Shampoo [BUY]. I’ve repurchased this countless times now! Next up is the Aveeno Pure Renewal that I got at Duane Reade. I did like it, but it was a bit expensive (around $10) and I prefer to splurge on the Klorane, which works much better.

FACE PRODUCTS

Products I've Used Up | Face ProductsI used up a lot of face and makeup products this time around! I’ll tell you about each one from left to right.

  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin – I really like this moisturizer from the drugstore. It works well, but it’s not the best moisturizer ever if you know what I mean. I highly recommend it for ultra sensitive skin, though. It’s light enough to wear all year long as well.
  • CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation – I LOVED this foundation. In fact, it’s my favorite that I’ve tried so far! I found that my skin loved it, too, and broke out less when I used this on a regular basis. If you’re looking for an affordable foundation, run to the drugstore and get this one!
  • Manna Kadar Lash Ware Mascara – I got this mascara in a Wantable box, and fell in love as well. It really does a great job at separating my lashes for a full look. You can purchase this online, but keep in mind it is a luxury brand.
  • Maybelline Dream Matte Powder – I purchased this powder during a sale event, and I’m so glad I did. It’s amazing, and great at keeping face matte and getting rid of shine. I’ve heard this product is being discontinued, which is highly disappointing since I really love it!
  • Maybelline Baby Skin – I’ve raved about Baby Skin on Adventures in Polishland before (see that post HERE). It’s a really great drugstore primer, and I’ve already purchased another one!

MAKEUP REMOVER

Products I've Used Up | Makeup Remover  I’ve gone through a lot of makeup remover recently! In the summer, I use a lot of wipes because they keep me feeling fresh and clean.

  • Every Beauty Makeup Remover Pads – I got these in a Beauty Army box, and to be honest I didn’t like them. It’s basically a cotton square that you wet with water and wipe over your face. It didn’t take off all of my makeup, especially mascara, and I felt like I had to do heavy cleansing afterwards.
  • Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes – I really have grown to love the Simple Wipes in the past few months. I think my skin is either getting used to them, or they’ve somehow gotten better. Whatever the reason, I’m digging these!
  • Olay Fresh Effects S’Wipe Out – These were my all-time favorite wipes, and I’m glad I stocked up on them during sale events because they were discontinued by the brand. There is a new wipe in the Fresh Effects line, so I’ll have to see how I like them at some point.
  • Sephora Instant Eye Makeup Remover – I bought this eye makeup remover in hopes that it would take off my mascara with ease. It didn’t. I’ve found other makeup removers that work much better than this, so I’ll stick with those.

BODY PRODUCTS

Products I've Used Up | Body Products

  • Secret Outlast Deodorant – Here’s my secret: I hate Secret deodorants! I used to use this brand all the time, but now I remember why I stopped. For some reason, Secret does not prevent all the odor. But the fun doesn’t stop there. For some reason, this product locks in the odor, and no matter how much I shower and scrub my pits with soap, the scent lingers. It’s really horrible!! I know Secret is a very popular brand, but it just does not work with my body chemistry.
  • Jergens BB Body Cream – I really enjoyed trying this out! It did make my skin look nice and flawless, but I can’t bring myself to purchase the full size. Maybe I will if I get a good coupon!
  • Walgreens Hand Sanitizer with Aloe – I keep a pump of hand sanitizer on my desk at all times. You’ve probably seen a lot of these in my empties by now!
  • Bath & Body Works Vanilla Verbena Sugar Scrub – This is the first sugar scrub I’ve ever tried, and I did like it. I didn’t use it very often, but the scent was very calming. I did purchase two other Bath & Body Works scrubs during the latest sale, but couldn’t find this one again.

Well, that’s it for my products I’ve used up! In this edition I had a lot of great products, and only a few bad ones. I’m sad with the products that were discontinued, though!  Make sure to let me know what products you’ve used up lately, and tell me a product that you loved but was later discontinued.
