Mosaic Nail Art with Diamond Glitter from Born Pretty Store

Happy Saturday! Today I have a fun nail art post featuring diamond glitters from Born Pretty Store! I’ve experimented with loose glitter before, but never with diamonds. Let me show you the glitter and how I used it!

Diamond Nail Glitter Born Pretty Store Diamond Nail Glitter Born Pretty StoreThis glitter pot is filed with mylar glitters in the shape of a diamond. The colors include, gold, silver, blue, pink, and green. I really like that this pot has a screw-on top so the glitters don’t go everywhere when I open it. The pot is also very easy to store, as I don’t have to worry about it popping open either. It retails for just $2.62 on Born Pretty Store’s website HERE.

Mosaic Nail Art Mosaic Nail ArtI decided to place the glitters individually on an accent nail for my manicure. I used a pair of tweezers to help me out, and it made the job very easy. First, I began with a white base because I wanted the colors to really stand out. Then, while the polish was still tacky, I carefully applied the glitters. I sealed my manicure with a top coat, and was ready to go! I love how my nail art turned out!

All in all, I’m really liking these diamond nail glitters from Born Pretty Store! They are easy to use, and even the packaging is great. I highly recommend them, and I think I’ll be trying out other looks with them in the future. Don’t forget to use code FZL91 to score an extra 10% off on the Born Pretty Store website.

Born Pretty Store Brush Set Review & Nail Art FAIL!

Happy Tuesday! Today’s post is a review of a brush set from Born Pretty Store that led to a nail art fail! I was so excited to receive this set, as I am not a nail art expert and I thought this set would help me create beautiful designs. Well, the set is great, but let’s be real – special brushes aren’t going to magically improve my art skills! I wasn’t going to include my manicure fail, but I wanted to show it so you can see that not all nail polish bloggers are professionals, and because it took me a lot of time and effort to even create this look. Let me just jump right in and share the brush kit and manicure with you!

Born Pretty Store Nail Brush KitThis brush kit comes with six nail art brushes and a dotting tool. The brushes come in all different sizes, and the set even includes a fan brush. The dotting tool is quite small, but definitely a great tool to have in your collection. This set retails for a very affordable $5.46, and can be purchased HERE. The brushes all seem to be very nice quality, though because this is my first nail art brush kit I can’t compare the set to others.

Angled Nail Art BrushI experimented with a lot of the brushes in this set, but unfortunately couldn’t get any great results yet. I think this is definitely a practice makes perfect type of thing! For the manicure you see below, I used this angled brush. I attempted to do a striped design.

Nail Art FAIL Nail Art FAILWell, here’s my manicure fail! I began with Zoya Rooney as a base color, and Rocha for the stripes. I waited until Rooney was dry before painting on my stripes. The brush itself was fine, but my hands were so shaky that I just couldn’t get a straight line. These are my art skills at their finest!

All in all, I’m still glad I got the chance to try out this brush kit from Born Pretty Store. I’m sure with practice my nail art will improve, but I hope you don’t mind that I shared my fail manicure with you today. Believe it or not I worked hard on it! If you have a difficult time making your nail art look good, you are not alone! Don’t get discouraged – you can still get beautiful nails with stickers, rhinestones, etc. Have you ever had a fail manicure? Tell me about it in the comments!

April 2014 Favorites!

Happy Friday! I can’t believe we just started May! April flew by so quickly, and it was a crazy month for me. Not only did I attend some awesome blogger events, but I started a new job and my first nephew was born! Needless to say, I loved April, but I’m very happy it’s May so I can finish all of my finals and enjoy some downtime. Let me share with you my April favorites!

MANICURE

Yi Kao Nail Wraps | Adventures in PolishlandYi Kou Nail Wraps [REVIEW] [BUY]

My favorite manicure in April was definitely my nail wraps from Born Pretty Store! They were so bright and fun, and really easy to apply. I highly recommend them, and I’m considering purchasing some more.

LIP GLOSS

Maybelline The Elixer in Nude IllusionMaybelline Color Elixir Lip Gloss in Nude Illusion

I grabbed this lip gloss as part of a coupon deal, and never expected to love it as much as I do! It is extremely moisturizing, has a great color payoff, and smells delicious. Plus, I love the unique brush applicator. I want more shades of this gloss for sure!

SOAP

Puddle Duck Soapworks in Pumpkin LattePuddle Duck Soapworks Goat Milk Soap in Pumpkin Latte [BUY]

You all know I love my soaps! My mom got me this one for Christmas, and it smelled absolutely divine. It was also exfoliating, but not overly abrasive. I’m so sad it’s all gone! I saved the wrapper so I would remember the exact brand and scent. Pumpkin Latte is a seasonal scent, but I surely hope it’s around next fall!

MAKEUP COLLECTION

Makeup Collection Organization | Adventures in PolishlandInterDesign Acrylic Drawers [BUY]

In the spirit of Spring Cleaning, I went through my entire makeup collection and reorganized it. I ended up purchasing two more sets of acrylic drawers from Amazon, and I’m loving my new set-up. If you’d like an entire blog post dedicated to my makeup collection and how I organize it, please let me know in the comments!

HAIR

Haircut by Kate at Tackamichi NYCYes, I got a haircut for the first time in nearly a year! I love it! This was my first NYC haircut, and I got it done by Kate at Tackamichi Salon. I went on Sustainable Beauty Day, and got this amazing haircut for a donation to charity. It was a fabulous opportunity, and I’m loving my new ‘do! Major thanks to Kate (definitely ask for her if you go to Takamichi)!

That’s it for my April 2014 favorites! Thank you for being patient with my irregular blog schedule as I head into my final exams. Soon I’ll be on summer break, and working a regular schedule again. As always, share your monthly favorites with me in the comments or on social media with the hashtag #PolishlandFaves.

Gold 3D Nail Art + Born Pretty Store Giveaway!

Happy Sunday! Today I have another post reviewing nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store, and a giveaway for all of you! Born Pretty Store keeps track of every time one of you uses my coupon code, and decided it was time to thank all of you for being customers. First, I’ll show you a look I created with some gold, 3D rhinestones. Then I’ll post information about the giveaway at the end!

Gold 3D Nail Rhinestones | Born Pretty StoreGold 3D Nail Rhinestones | Born Pretty StoreI’ve tried out some fancy nail art supplies from Born Pretty Store in the past, but these 3D gold rhinestones certainly take the cake! I really liked the swirly design, since it reminded me of a G-clef. Unfortunately, my nails were a bit too short to fit the rhinestone! I made it work, though, and painted my nails with Julep Morgan. While Morgan was still tacky, I carefully pressed the rhinestone onto my nail. As the polish dried, the rhinestone was locked into place, but for a bit more security you can always add a touch of eyelash glue.

Gold 3D Nail Rhinestone | Born Pretty StoreI also put a rhinestone on my thumb in a diagonal. I think it looks awesome, so I took a rare thumb photo! If your nails are long, I think these rhinestones would work wonderfully for you. They were just a bit too long for me, but I still liked the fancy manicure I got. What do you think of it? You can purchase a pack of 5 rhinestones for just $2.63 HERE. For the additional 10% off, use my coupon code FZL91!

Yi Kou Nail Wraps from Born Pretty Store

Happy Tuesday! First, I want to take a moment and let you know that I will only be posting 1-2 times per week for the next few weeks. It is finals season at school, and the majority of my time will be spent studying. But don’t worry – I’ll be back to my normal schedule soon enough!

Now onto today’s nail polish post! I tested out some nail wraps from the brand Yi Kou for the first time. These wraps are available at Born Pretty Store, one of my favorite online retailers for nail art supplies. If you’ve been a follower of mine for a while now, you’ll know that I love testing out funky products from Born Pretty Store! I was so excited to try out these nail wraps in particular, because the design is perfect for spring.

Yi Kao Nail Wraps from Born Pretty Store | Adventures in PolishlandEach pack of Yi Kou nail wraps comes with two sheets of seven wraps. These wraps are super easy to apply – all you do is find the size that fits your nail, peel off the protective paper, and gently smooth the wrap over your nail starting at the cuticle. If you have any excess, use a nail file in a downward motion to trim off the extra. There truly is no drying time, and you have a complete nail art look in minutes!

Yi Kao Nail Wraps | Adventures in Polishland Yi Kao Nail Wraps | Adventures in PolishlandI am loving the final result with these wraps! The colors are bright and fun, and I really like the abstract pattern. I did seal the manicure with my Essie Good to Go top coat, just to make sure the edges were sealed down, and to give my manicure a “real polish” look. I wore these nail wraps for three days before removing them, and only experienced light tip wear. Removal was also surprisingly easy! I carefully peeled off the wraps, and they came off just fine without leaving any sticky residue. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’ll take it!

All in all, I am very impressed with the Yi Kou nail wraps! They measure up to the high end nail wraps that I’ve tried, but each set costs only $2.38! The design I’m showing you in this post is #K1026, but there are other designs to choose from as well. You can purchase these nail wraps HERE, and don’t forget to use discount code FZL91 to get an additional 10% off. As always, there is free worldwide shipping at Born Pretty Store. Born Pretty Store | Adventures in PolishlandHave you tried any of the Yi Kou nail wraps from Born Pretty Store? If so, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Neon Nails featuring Star Studs from Born Pretty Store

Happy Saturday! Today I have a really fun manicure to share with you featuring some star studs from Born Pretty Store. When I got the studs in a neon color, I decided to create a nail art look that would be perfect for any 80s throwback party. Let me show you the totally rad manicure!

Star Studs from Born Pretty StoreFirst, here is a look at the packet of studs. For just $3.37, you get 200 studs! Think of all the nail art looks you can create with this one packet! These studs also come in eight different colors, so you can choose your favorite. I got the lime green, or shade #4. They can be purchased HERE.

Neon Nails with Star Studs

Neon Nails with Star StudsAs a base for my neon nails, I grabbed Spoiled in Plastic Flamingo, one of my all-time favorite polishes. When the polish was still tacky, I used some long-nose tweezers to place the studs on my nails. I placed one stud on the base of each nail, and three in a diagonal on an accent nail. The tweezers made this process really easy, so I definitely recommend using them as a helpful tool.

Neon Nails with Star StudsAll in all, I’m loving this neon manicure! The colors are so fun and vibrant, and the studs are so easy to use. Whether you’re looking for a themed look for a special occasion, or simply want to liven up your normal manicures, I think these star studs are a great choice. You can grab them on Born Pretty’s website for an extra 10% off with code FZL91. Have you tried any nail studs? Show me what you create on my Facebook Page!

Vintage Inspired Floral Nail Art featuring Water Decals from Born Pretty Store!

Happy Thursday! Today I have another review of some water decals from the online retailer Born Pretty Store. I’ve tried water decals a few times now (see my King of Pop Manicure HERE), but this time around I had more control over my nail art design and decided to take it in a vintage direction. Let me show you the water decals and the manicure I created!

Floral Water DecalsUnlike the other water decals I’ve tried in the past, this sheet does not have any pre-made shapes or designs. Instead, the design is separated into rectangular blocks that can be cut into any shape or size. I decided to cut the decals into a variety of shapes to keep my manicure interesting!

Vintage Inspired Floral Nails Vintage Inspired Floral NailsI began my manicure with SinfulColors Mint Apple, a beautiful dusty green with shimmer (full review HERE). Once my polish was completely dried, I cut the decals into the shapes I desired, removed the protective film, and dipped them into water for a few seconds. The water decals work just like temporary tattoos. The design slides right off the paper backing when wet, and you can easily position the decals onto your nails using your fingers. Once the decals are dry, finishing up with a top coat and you’re good to go!

Vintage Inspired Floral NailsAll in all, I’m really loving these water decals! I only used two of the rectangular blocks on the sheet to create this look, so I can be sure to get more use out of it in the future. You can purchase this sheet of decals on Born Pretty Store’s website HERE for just $2.98. I chose design number 10, but there are lots of others as well. As always, use code FZL91 to get an extra 10% off your purchase, and enjoy free international shipping. Let me know what you think of my nail art in the comments!

Geometric Rose Garden Nail Art featuring Nail Stickers from Born Pretty Store

Happy Saturday! It’s still officially winter, but my nails are ready for the spring! Born Pretty Store sent me some beautiful rose nail stickers to review, and I decided to put together a geometric rose garden manicure. I’ve been really inspired with nail art lately, so I hope you like what I’ve put together. Let me show you the rose stickers and the look I created.

Gold 3D Nail Art Stickers | Rose DesignHere is the sheet of nail stickers from Born Pretty Store. The sheet contains 28 golden rose stickers in a few different designs, and retails for just $2.22 HERE! Instead of just placing these on a solid background, I thought it would be fun to use both green and pink together to symbolize the flower and stem colors.

Julep – PaytonI began my manicure using Julep Payton as a green base. You can see my full review of Payton HERE, but I thought the bright green color and creme finish would be the perfect base for my rose garden!

Julep – DrewNext, I let Payton dry completely, and then used scotch tape to mark off sections of each nail. I did a different design on each nail, but you can do each nail the same if you like. Once the tape was in place, I used Julep Drew as my pink, rose color. Before Drew dried, I carefully peeled off the tape. I have a few minor mistakes, but no worries – my roses can go right on top of the less-than-perfect parts! I let Drew dry, and then used butter LONDON Hardwear Topcoat to even out the edges.

Geometric Rose Garden Finally, I added a rose nail sticker to each nail. It is so easy to use these stickers. All you have to do is peel and place! I followed up with another layer of top coat to seal everything in place. I chose to use a sticker on each nail, but this look is customizable to you! Use the stickers on an accent nail, or use the same design on each nail. The sticker sheet has enough stickers for 2+ manicures, depending on how many you use.

Geometric Rose GardenAll in all, I am really loving this geometric rose garden nail art! It is simple to create, yet looks funky and feminine at the same time. As always, you can purchase fabulous and affordable nail art supplies on Born Pretty Store’s website HERE. Use discount code FZL91 for an additional 10% off. Let me know in the comments what you think of my manicure!

Earthy Nail Art featuring Born Pretty Store Nail Stones & Zoya Naturel Collection

Happy Wednesday! I’ve got something a bit different on Adventures in Polishland today, and that is a nail art look that I created for the Born Pretty Store Year End Nail Art Contest. Born Pretty sent me the nail art stones so I could review them and put together a look for the contest, and I felt quite inspired. Let me show you the manicure I put together!

Born Pretty Store Nail StonesHere is what the Nail Stones look like – you can see them above on the business card. These stones are made of cabochon, and are a beautiful, marbled tan color. You can get five of these stones on Born Pretty’s website HERE for just $0.99! Since these stones remind me of the earth, so I grabbed the Zoya Naturel Collection to create my nail art look!

Earthy Nail Art Earthy Nail ArtHere is my completed nail art look! I knew I wanted to highlight the nail stones as double accent nails, and then I just went from there. To keep with the rounded visual of the stones, I chose to do a cloud design on the other fingers.

Here is a breakdown of my manicure:

  • Cloud Nails – base of Zoya Taylor, then Zoya Odette and Zoya Rue respectively.
  • Accent Nails – base of Zoya Brigitte, then nail stone in center of nail. Zoya Rue placed around half of the stone, one nail on top, the other on bottom.

Earthy Nail ArtThis manicure was surprisingly simple to create! To apply the nail stones, I simply pressed them into my nail polish when it was still tacky, and then applied top coat. For more information on how to create a cloud manicure, take a look at THIS Pin that I used as a guide. Not only are the nail stones easy to use, but they can be reused as well! Talk about a bargain!

All in all, I am absolutely loving this earthy nail art look! The Zoya Naturel Collection goes perfectly with the nail stones, and I feel like my nails look fancy yet not crazy thanks to the subdued color palette. As always, you can find great nail art supplies on the Born Pretty Store website for amazing prices and free international shipping. For an even better price, use code FZL91 for 10% off. You can also enter the Born Pretty Store End of Year Contest if you’d like – full details HERE. Let me know what you think of my nail art in the comments!

Fruit Salad Fingers with Fimo Decals from Born Pretty Store

Happy Saturday! Today I have some fun nail art to share with all of you. I’ve never tried any fimo decals before, so I was excited when I got the opportunity to review some from Born Pretty Store. These decals are made from clay, and come pre-sliced and ready to apply. I decided to choose some fruit designs and do something a bit out of the box. Let me show you what the decals look like!

IMG_3614As you can see, this fimo set from Born Pretty comes with 12 different fruit designs. There are apples, lemons, limes, strawberries, and more! Each designs comes with 10 pieces. I decided to create two different nail art looks to test these out, but the possibilities are endless!

IMG_3615 IMG_3623My first manicure is watermelon inspired! I began with Colour Gossip Nails in Just a Tease [see review HERE], and added on Daphine Polish in Watermelon Taffy [see review HERE] on my pinky and pointer fingers. To complete the look, I added on two watermelon decals in a double accent nail design. As you can see, I went with the full watermelon and a watermelon slice. To apply, simply press the decals onto your nail polish before it dries, and finish up with a top coat. I used tweezers to help with the application.

IMG_3626 IMG_3627For my second look, I went with a lemon lime theme! First, I began with Zoya Nail Polish in Piaf, and then added one lemon and one lime decal to each nail. I thought this was really cute, and I love the sparkle of Piaf as the base. I can definitely go for some lemonade right about now!

All in all, these fimo decals from Born Pretty Store are so fun and easy to use! They would be great for a theme party, or even if you are feeling a bit more adventurous one day. This set of 120 decals retails for just $1.79! What a fabulous and affordable deal! You can purchase it at Born Pretty Store HERE, and don’t forget to use code FZL91 for an additional 10% off. Let me know what you think of my fruit salad fingers in the comments!
