Wet ‘n Wild MegaVolume Mascara Review

Happy Monday! Today I am excited to share a review of a fabulous and affordable mascara with all of you. I’m not quite sure why, but for some reason I typically walk by the Wet ‘n Wild display at the drugstore without giving it much thought. After discovering that many Wet ‘n Wild products are vegan (see the full list HERE), I decided it was a great place to start rebuilding my makeup stash since I’m on a tight budget. I began by grabbing the MegaVolume Mascara in the shade Very Black. Let me share my thoughts on this product with you, including some before and after photos!

The Wet ‘n Wild MegaVolume Mascara is advertised to provide five times the volume to your lashes with a natural-looking, enhancing effect. I purchased the shade C138 Very Black at my local Target. The regular retail price is just $2.97!

The applicator is a traditional mascara brush. I’m not a big fan of this applicator type. I find my eyelashes react much better to the silicone wands with spiky ends. Nonetheless, for under $3.00 I knew it wouldn’t be a huge loss if I wasn’t in love with this mascara!

Wet 'n Wild MegaVolume Mascara Review – AFTER — *After – two coats of Wet ‘n Wild MegaVolume*

Here is a before and after look at my eyelashes with the MegaVolume Mascara. I like to layer two coats of this mascara on my lashes, as I find it gives them a fuller effect. As you can see from the photos, this definitely isn’t giving me a ton of volume in my lashes. Instead the MegaVolume is a nice everyday mascara if you want to add definition without going too big with your lashes. I find I get a good amount of length with this mascara, and not as much volume as I would like. Luckily, the mascara does not clump much at all, and I rarely have to pull out my lash comb. My only issue with the MegaVolume is that it does get a bit messy during application, and that requires a bit of clean-up with a cotton swab.

All in all, I think Wet ‘n Wild’s MegaVolume is a great option for those of you looking for a more natural mascara. I personally like to go for more dramatic lashes, so while I probably won’t repurchase the MegaVolume again, I highly recommend it. The mascara lasts all day and doesn’t flake off the lashes, and you really can’t beat the quality for the price. I think my next Wet ‘n Wild mascara test will be on the MegaPlump, as it might give my lashes that extra drama I like. Physicians Formula Organic wear CC Cream Review

Happy Friday! Today I am excited to review for you a CC cream that I picked up at the drugstore a couple months back. In the summer months, I love to wear a BB or CC cream instead of my usual liquid foundation. Not only is it lighter on the skin, but CC cream contains moisturizing properties and sunscreen that can take the place of other products in my skincare routine. I decided to grab the new Physicians Formula Organic wear CC Cream during a sale at CVS, and I’m so glad I did! This is a great option from the drugstore, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.

First, let me share a bit more about the product and its claims. The Organic wear CC Cream is of 100% natural origin and is 70% organic. I am definitely becoming more aware of the ingredients in my makeup, so it is always nice to know that I’m not putting harsh chemicals on my face when I use this product. As with any CC cream, this one has a few claims including color correction, instant hydration, and “naturally perfect skin.” This CC Cream also includes SPF 20, which is great.

The CC Cream comes in a silver metallic squeeze tube. I purchased the shade Light, and am very disappointed that in only comes in one other shade – Light/Medium. I really don’t know why Physicians Formula didn’t include, at the very least, a Medium/Dark and Dark shades. While CC cream does adjust to your skin tone a bit, it would be nice if more shades were made available so that all consumers may use this product.

Physicians Formula Organic wear CC Cream Review

The CC Cream itself is quite thick in consistency, almost like a mousse texture. I like to wear it over a mattifying face primer, as I tend to get oily skin. If you have dry skin, you can probably go without a primer. I use a BeautyBlender to apply the CC Cream, and find that it does a great job at getting an even application. I am very impressed with the coverage in this CC Cream. As you can see in the photos above, it cancels out redness and blurs any imperfections. CC Creams are not designed to be full coverage, and I would describe this one as medium coverage. That being said, it is buildable! I go over some areas with a bit more product to get the coverage I want.

Moreover, the reason I really enjoy the Organic wear CC Cream is because it wears well throughout the day, even in hot summer weather. My oil is controlled, with the help of my primer and a setting powder. While you can tell I am wearing makeup, my face does not look cakey at all. In fact, the CC Cream dries to a nice satin finish that is not tacky to the touch. This is by far one of the best, and most affordable, CC creams I’ve tried!

All in all, I highly recommend the Physicians Formula Organic wear CC Cream. You can find it at your local drugstore for $14.95, or online HERE. NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms | Swatches & Review

Happy Monday! Today I am excited to share with you swatches and a review of the NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms. I absolutely love tinted lip balms, as they are easy to wear and also help add moisture to the lips. I am always up for trying out different brands, and NYC New York Color is a very affordable one. There are six shades in this line, and I received four of them to review. Let me jump right into the swatches!

The Show Time Lip Balms are formulated to be moisturizing, while at the same time providing a sheer wash of color. Each Show Time balm is infused with Vitamin C to minimize chapping and cracking. I definitely agree that these lip balms are moisturizing. They immediately feel very creamy on the lips, and even upon removal my lips feel hydrated. I’m impressed that the Show Time Lip Balms have such great moisturization! They also have a very light fruity scent.

Cool Nude

First up is Cool Nude, a tan shade packed with holographic glitter. Cool Nude doesn’t have much of a color payoff, and instead just adds sparkle to my lips. I really appreciate that the glitter in this lip balm is very comfortable to wear, and not gritty like some other glittery products. This is not a shade I would wear because I don’t like to have any glitter on my lips, but if you are looking for that this is a great option!

Trendy Peach

Next up is Trendy Peach, a light baby pink packed with glitter. Trendy Pink also has a very light pigmentation, and is almost a completely clear. I do wish there was more of a color payoff with these glitter balms, but they can certainly be layered over other lip products to add some shine.

Popular Pink

The Show Time line also includes lips balms without any glitter or shimmer whatsoever. Popular Pink is one of those shades, and it a blue-toned pink balm. Popular Pink feels amazing on the lips, and is very wearable. I think the pigmentation is very well done, because it’s sheer but still has a nice payoff.

In Vogue Red

Last but not least is In Vogue Red, a cherry red shade that also does not contain glitter. In Vogue Red is my favorite of the bunch! It looks so nice with my fair skin tone, and is a more comfortable option to the traditional red lip. Plus, it is really easy to apply!

All in all, I am quite impressed with the NYC New York Color Show Time Lip Balms. While I wouldn’t personally wear the glittery shades, I think they are great quality. Makeup transcends age, but I do think the Show Time Lip Balms are the perfect option for younger people first trying makeup. I would have been all over the glitter shades in my preteen years! I also recommend Popular Pink and In Vogue Red for anyone! These $1.99 lip balms are super fabulous and affordable, and a great option for my tinted lip balm fans. Simple Glam Makeup Look featuring Rimmel London | All Drugstore Products

Happy Friday! Today I have a makeup look to share with you featuring products from the drugstore brand Rimmel London. I was recently sent a package from Rimmel filled with products to create a glam makeup look. I couldn’t wait to test out all of the goodies and share them with you! In this post I’ll first be sharing each product individually and my first impressions of the product. Then I’ll share my completed makeup look at the end! Let’s go ahead and get started with this simple glam makeup look using all drugstore products!

THE PRODUCTS

Lasting Finishing Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation – $7.99

I was really intrigued with this foundation. It claims to be a long-wearing, 25-hour formula, and it also is formulated to be full coverage. I received the shade Classic Ivory, which is a bit too dark for me right now. The formula is definitely a medium coverage, and I recommend it for those with combination or oily skin, because it does stick to dry patches. That being said, it dries to a beautiful semi-matte finish. I love the feel of it on the skin, and it wears nicely throughout the day. I think this is a good pick for a drugstore foundation!

Rimmel London Natural Bronzer Natural Bronzer – $5.99

I was a bit hesitant to try out this bronzer, but if you’re going for a glam look you might as well go all out! I’m really impressed with this bronzer. It applies so smoothly and blends out beautifully. It truly is a natural bronzer, and I highly recommend it for bronzer newbies like me. I received the shade Sun Bronze, which worked well with my fair complexion. I’m excited to continue using this product!

Rimmel Scandaleyes in Bulletproof Beige Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bulletproof Beige – $4.59

I went for this shimmery gold eyeshadow stick for my entire eye look. I applied this cream shadow over the lid and into the crease. It’s a beautiful color, and because it’s shimmery it can stand on its own. I like that this is a no fuss product! Plus, because I was wearing a bold lip, I knew I could go lighter on the eyes.

Scandaleyes Xtreme Mascara – $6.99

I’ve had mixed luck with Rimmel mascaras in the past, but I have to say I am really impressed with this one! The brush has the rubbery texture that I like, and it definitely gives me both volume and length. The formula is a bit on the wet side, but I’m sure once it dries out a bit I will love it even more. I got the shade Black, and I highly recommend this one!

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick Moisture Renew Lipstick – $7.99

Last but not least is the Moisture Renew Lipstick in Red Alert. While this shade is outside of my comfort zone, I am loving the formula! It definitely feels very moisturizing on the lips, and it applies very smoothly. I often feel weird when wearing lipstick, but I found this one very comfortable to wear. The red color is a bit staining, but I used a makeup remover wipe and that worked well. I will be checking out the other shades in this line for sure!

THE MAKEUP LOOK

Here is my final look! I used all drugstore products in this look, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I would wear this for a special occasion or a night out, or I would wear a lighter lip color for a day look. All of the products I used will be listed for your convenience.

All in all, I’m so glad I received these products from Rimmel to test out for all of you. I’m quite impressed with the great quality, especially with the mascara and lipstick. Rimmel is often on sale at the drugstore, and coupons can sometimes be found in the Sunday newspaper. I highly recommend trying out these products! New Covergirl Product Reviews | Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Lip Balm + Plumpify blast PRO Mascara

Happy Friday! Today I am super excited to be sharing full reviews of two new products from the brand Covergirl. I received these products from Influenster, and I am really glad I did. I am a huge Covergirl fan, and I love that the brand’s products are fabulous and affordable. The two products I received are the Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Lip Balm and the Plumpify blast PRO Mascara. I have full reviews and swatches of each of these products for you, so let’s jump right into the post!

New Covergirl Product Reviews | Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Lip Balm + Plumpify blast PRO Mascara

Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Lip Balm

First up is the Oh Sugar! Vitamin Infused Lip Balm in the shade Soda. I am so impressed with this lip balm! It reminds me of the high end Fresh Sugar lip balms – it even has the same smell! I got the shade Soda, which is a berry mauve shade. I’m very impressed with how pigmented this lip balm is, and it feels really nice on the lips!

Here are swatches both on my arm and on the lips. Soda is a bit darker than I would normally wear, so I’m hoping there are other shades in this line. The formula is just amazing! I highly recommend this for sure.

Plumpify blast PRO Mascara

Covergirl Plumpify blast PRO Mascara in Very Black Covergirl mascara is always hit or miss for me, so I was a little nervous to try this one. I received the shade Very Black, which is what I wear regularly. The Plumpify blast PRO is designed to give extreme plump and life with a 50x volume claim. I like that there is an actual before and after photograph right on the box!

Here is a look at the packaging, which is a sleek black and red color. I am in love with the red applicator! It is my favorite type of brush, and has a unique swirly form. The brush also has a rounded tip similar to Benefit’s They’re Real! This tip helps to push apart stubborn lashes, and works wonders on bottom lashes.

Covergirl Plumpify blast PRO Mascara in Very Black The formula for me is a bit on the heavy side. This is definitely a wet mascara, and I much prefer dry formulas. Nonetheless, I do get great volume with the Plumpify. My lashes did clump a bit because of the heavy formula, but I am liking the look. I also love that this mascara is hypoallergenic and removes with soap and water. Any time a mascara comes off with a makeup remover wipe I know it’s a good one!

All in all, I am very much loving these new products from Covergirl! They are both amazing quality, and I recommend them. If you prefer a dry mascara, Plumpify might not be for you, so take that into consideration. Otherwise, I know I’ll be using both of these products on a regular basis! Maybelline BROWdrama Pro Palette | Review & Swatches

Happy Monday! Today I have a review of the new Maybelline BROWdrama Pro Palette. I saw this at CVS a few weeks ago and decided to pick it up because there was a great Maybelline sale going on, and I had coupons to use. I’ve been a loyalist to the Milani Brow Fix Kit for years now, but have been wanting to find another affordable option because the color match to my brows is not perfect. I’m so glad I found the Maybelline BROWdrama! Let me share my thoughts on this fabulous and affordable palette with you!

Maybelline BROWdrama Pro Palette | Review & Swatches I purchased the BROWdrama in the shade 250 Blonde because I have dark blonde hair, and I find anything for brunettes is way too dark for me. The kit comes with a brow wax, brow powder, highlight powder, a double-sided angled brush, and a spoolie brush. I love that you get everything you need for a complete brow look. I would have liked a mini pair of tweezers in the kit, too. That is one benefit that the Milani kit has over this one. That being said, I am very impressed with the quality of this palette. Maybelline BROWdrama Pro Palette | Review & Swatches Here are swatches of the wax, powder, and highlight. As you can see, the wax is only slightly pigmented. I’ve never used a brow wax before, and I have to say I’m surprised at how much I like it! I apply the wax first, and it does a great job at keeping my brows shaped. I no longer have to use a brow gel! Then I apply the powder, which is the perfect shade for my brows. I’m so glad I finally found a true match! Plus, the powder is great quality. I do not experience any fallout, but it also blends really well. Last but not least is the highlight. This is the one product in the palette I’m not thrilled about because it is a bit on the glittery side. However, it is decent quality and most days I do wear it. I also wanted to mention that I have been using the brushes included in the palette, and they do a great job.

All in all, I’m so glad I picked up the Maybelline BROWdrama Pro Palette! I think it is a great product, especially from the drugstore! I’ve never tried high end eyebrow products, so I don’t know how this compares to those, but it’s definitely one of the best options I’ve tested from the drugstore. Rimmel London Keep Calm and Lip Balm | Swatches & Review

Happy Wednesday! Today I am very excited to share with you three new products from the drugstore brand Rimmel London. I absolutely love tinted lip balms, because they are really easy to apply and wear. Rimmel just released a new line called Keep Calm and Lip Balm. Not only is the packaging extremely adorable, but the product is designed to increase lip moisture by 22%. With the colder weather in full swing, I couldn’t wait to test these out! Let me show you swatches of the three colors I received, and share my thoughts on them.

Each product has a sheer wash of color in addition to its moisturizing qualities. I do really like the formula of these lip products. They glide on easily and feel very soft and nourishing on the lips. I don’t find that these work as well as a medicated lip balms – while my lips feel nice while wearing the lip balm, they are not healed upon removal. Nevertheless, these are a great option if you want an affordable tinted balm that will not irritate your dry lips. Let’s jump right into swatches of the three I received!

Keep Calm and Kiss is a pale pink shade that Rimmel describes as Pink Blush. It’s not highly pigmented, but adds a nice wash of color. I think it’s perfect for the winter months. It looks great with my fair skin tone, but I think it can work on anyone! I should also mention that each of these balms has a sweet candy smell. It’s not overpowering, but I love it!

Next up is Keep Calm and Rock, a berry shade with purple undertones. I’m so impressed with the rich pigmentation of Keep Calm and Rock! This is the perfect product for those who want to try out darker lips, but may be intimidated by a lipstick. I love this for the holiday season as well!

Last but not least is Keep Calm and Play, what I would describe as a rosy coral shade. It has a light pigmentation, and is a ‘my lips but better’ shade for me. This is definitely the shade I would wear on the daily!

All in all, I am loving the Keep Calm and Lip Balm line from Rimmel London! While these are not a replacement for a healing lip balm for me, they are the perfect product to wear all day for a hint of color and a moisturizing feel on the lips. These will make an excellent stocking stuffer this holiday season, and are a fabulous and affordable $2.50! I recommend the shade Barely Branded, which is a light tan shade with just a hint of shimmer. You can wear it alone or layer under other eyeshadows. Plus, it’s easy to apply with your fingers!

EYESHADOWMeasurable Difference Eyeshadow Palette – Desert Nights [BUY]

I always recommend a neutral eyeshadow palette for beginners. Neutrals are easy to wear during the day and at night, and look good on anyone! The Desert Nights palette from Measurable Difference contains five different shades from light to dark that can create a variety of eye looks. This palette retails for only $6.99 as well, so you can try a good amount of shades for an affordable price tag!

EYELINER

Covergirl Intensify Me! Eyeliner Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner [BUY]

If you have trouble applying eyeliner, I strongly recommend the new Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner. The tip of the liner is sturdy, and has both a flat side and a skinny side so you can get a really precise line. I love that the liner on this product is a really dark black, and I never experience skipping during application. There is no reason to fear liquid liner with this product!

MASCARA

L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes [BUY]

Last but not least, my favorite eye product is mascara. The L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes is one of my all-time favorite mascaras, and I recently repurchased it for the first time in a couple years. It gives a really full look to the lashes, and truly lives up to the voluminous name. I highly recommend it!

Back to School Week | Daily Makeup for School

Happy Wednesday! Today for Back to School Week I’m going to be sharing my go to makeup products for school. There are a lot of factors to consider when getting ready for school every morning. You want your makeup to last all day, feel light and comfortable, and be quick to apply in the morning. I am also a huge fan of wearing minimal and natural makeup to school. I’ll be showing you the makeup products that I use on a daily basis, whether I’m heading to school or not. They are all drugstore products, and won’t break your student budget. Let’s jump right into my favorite daily makeup!

FACE PRODUCTS

I like to stick with a three product system for my face makeup. First, I use a primer. This will ensure my makeup stays put all day. A great option from the drugstore is Maybelline Baby Skin. It measures up to other high end face primers for a fraction of the price. I then follow up with a liquid foundation. My all-time favorite is the Covergirl trueBLEND, which is under $10 at the drugstore and comes in a wide range of shades. It is a light to medium coverage, but is quite buildable. It also blends out really well. Finally, I set my foundation with the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. This is a cult favorite, and I’ve repurchased it what feels like a dozen times. It is beyond awesome at keeping your face matte and in place all day – take my word for it.

EYE PRODUCTS

I keep my eye makeup very simple on a daily basis, especially when I was in school. I think there are really only two must have products. First is a good eyebrow product. I love using the Milani Brow Fix Kit because it contains everything I need to fill in my brows – brow powder in two shades, a highlighter, tweezers, angled brush, and sponge applicator. I’ve tried a lot of drugstore eyebrow products, and this is by far my favorite. Next, I love a good mascara. It adds a lot to your face without being much trouble. My favorite of the moment is the Covergirl The Super Sizer. It lengthens and adds volume in one!

BLUSH & HIGHLIGHTER

While I like to keep my makeup pretty simple, blush and highlighter are quick ways to add some dimension and color. I’ve been completely obsessed with the new L’Oreal Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator in the shade Rose for highlighter. It’s so beautiful and wearable! In addition, I love the elf Studio Blush Palette in Light, which I reviewed HERE. This $6 palette includes four different blushes, so you can pick a shade based on your mood and outfit. It’s awesome!

LIP PRODUCTS

Last but not least are lip products! One of my most used lip products is the Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain in the shade Honey. It stays on all day through eating and drinking, so it’s perfect for going to school. Another product that I love is the NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Créme Brulee. It is a great ‘my lips but better’ color, and can be worn over the Revlon stain or on its own. These are both a great way to finish your daily makeup look!
