Dare to Compare | Sally Hansen Celeb City vs butter LONDON Diamond Geezer

Happy Friday! Today I have the last Dare to Compare post to share with you for quite a while. I have now gone through my entire nail polish collection and weeded out any dupes or similar shades. I will have an update for you regarding my nail polish declutter project very soon, but today I have a final comparison. This one is quite exciting, as I’m matching up a super affordable polish with a higher end brand. Both Sally Hansen Celeb City and butter LONDON Diamond Geezer are silver polishes, and look nearly identical in the bottle. Let’s find out if they are!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Celeb City Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Celeb CityFirst up is Celeb City from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. I used to be obsessed with this nail polish. In fact, this is my second bottle because I went through one! Celeb City has an excellent formula that is opaque in two coats. It looks like chrome on the nails, and is super cool. I don’t wear Celeb City much anymore, but it is a great polish to have in my collection.

butter LONDON – Diamond Geezer butter LONDON – Diamond GeezerNext up is butter LONDON Diamond Geezer, another silver nail polish. Diamond Geezer has a great formula that is opaque in two coats. It also has a chrome finish on the nails, and unlike many metallic polishes doesn’t show a lot of brushstrokes. Diamond Geezer is shiny without a top coat needed!

Sally Hansen Celeb City vs butter LONDON Diamond Geezer Sally Hansen Celeb City vs butter LONDON Diamond GeezerHere is a look at Celeb City and Diamond Geezer side-by-side. I can’t tell the difference between these two polishes! They both apply the same way, and they look the same, too. I definitely consider these polishes to be exact dupes. I will be keeping Celeb City in my collection, since I like to blog about affordable products, and it’s been a favorite of mine for years now.

All in all, I’m always glad to find a dupe for all of you! There is no need to spend the money on Diamond Geezer when you can save over $10 on Celeb City. I hope you found this post helpful if you are looking for an affordable silver polish to add to your collection. As always, please let me know in the comments if you have a favorite silver nail polish. I would love to hear your recommendations!

Zoya Seashells Collection for Summer 2016

Happy Wednesday! Today I am continuing my review of the Zoya Nail Polish Summer 2016 release with a full review of the Seashells Collection. I was very surprised to see Zoya release a PixieDust Collection this summer. The PixieDust formula is Zoya’s take on textured nail polish. It applies smoothly and then dries to a textured finish, complete with stunning glitter in each polish. I could have sworn that the textured trend was over, but I was wrong! PixieDust polishes are back in action this year, and I’m excited to review them for you.

Zoya Seashells Collection for Summer 2016I wanted to quickly note that I applied two coats of each PixieDust polish in the photos you see here. PixieDust polishes are buildable, and are typically opaque in 2-3 coats.

Zoya – Levi Zoya – LeviFirst up is Levi, a yellow gold polish with holographic glitter. Levi has a great formula, and dries very quickly. I’m not one to wear gold polish regularly, but this is a great option. I also like the holographic glitter, since it adds a lot of dimension to the polish.

Zoya – Linds Zoya – LindsNext up is Linds, a red polish with red and gold glitter. Linds has a good formula, but I found the textured effect isn’t as strong with this polish. That might be a pro for you depending on how much you like the PixieDust finish. Linds is more of a fall and winter shade for me, so I find it interesting that it’s part of a summer collection!

Zoya – Zooey ZooeyMy favorite polish in the collection is Zooey, a pink polish with gold glitter and holographic hexagons. I love the combination of the gold and pink, because it almost makes this polish appear as a rose gold. Plus, Zooey sparkles so beautifully in the sunlight, which makes it perfect as a summer staple!

Zoya – Cece Zoya – CeceNext up is Cece, a green polish with gold glitter. Cece is definitely a bit on the sheer side, as I applied two coats and it is not opaque. That being said, I’m interested to try layering Cece over another green polish to see what that looks like.

Zoya – Bay Zoya – BayBay is up next, and it is a blue polish with silver and gold glitter. Bay is similar to Cece, in that the formula is more on the sheer side. The pigmentation is not as strong as I would like, but if you like lighter blues this one will be right up your alley!

Zoya – Tilly Zoya – TillyLast but not least is Tilly, a silver polish with purple and holographic glitter. Tilly is a really unique polish, and I know I don’t own anything else like this in my stash. I think Tilly will look beautiful with darker skin tones, but I’m not loving it with my fair complexion. I’m much more of a rose gold girl!

All in all, I think Zoya has produced a solid collection with the Seashells. I’m not a big fan of the PixieDust formula anymore, but these polishes are all amazing quality. I definitely recommend Zooey, and if you’re only looking to pick up one Seashells polish that is my pick. You can shop for these polishes on Zoya’s website HERE for $10 each or $60 for the full collection.

Manicure March | Julep in Bergen

Happy Monday! Today I am reviewing another nail polish from the brand Julep. I own so many Julep nail polishes that sometimes I can’t even remember if I’ve ever used them. Bergen is one of those polishes, but when I searched my blog I found that I used it back in 2014 (see that post HERE)! I was interested to give this nail polish another swatch to see why it wasn’t memorable. Let me share a review of Bergen with you!

Julep in Bergen Julep in BergenBergen is a really unique nail polish. The shade is a silvery blue, and there is a silver shimmer running throughout the base. Bergen has a really good formula that is opaque in two coats. I recommend letting each coat dry completely before adding on another, as the polish can bunch up when it’s still tacky on the nail. Bergen is not the polish shade I typically reach for when doing my nails, but I have to say I really love it! I’ve decided to keep this one in my collection in hopes that I’ll wear it more often.

All in all, sometimes a nail polish isn’t very memorable when it’s just one of many in your collection. While that can mean it’s got a bad formula or a boring color, other times it’s just that the polish isn’t your usual cup of tea. I’m so glad I rediscovered Bergen from Julep. I own nothing else like it in my stash, and I’m glad it has a great formula. I’d love to know in the comments if you’ve ever found a nail polish in your collection and had no recollection of using it. Please tell me I’m not alone in doing that!

Silver and Gold Christmas Manicure | Sally Hansen Celeb City and Julep Vivien

Happy Monday! I can’t believe Christmas is just a few days away! I thought I would share a simple manicure to put together to help celebrate the season. I recently watched Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys, and I’ve been humming the song Silver and Gold. I don’t see many silver and gold manicures, so I created my own! Let me show you my silver and gold nail polish look!
Silver and Gold Christmas Manicure | Adventures in PolishlandI began my silver and gold manicure with a base of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Celeb City. I applied two coats and let that dry before applying my gold glitter. For my silver and gold effect, I looked for a gold chunky glitter, and found the perfect polish in Julep Vivien. I applied two coats of Viven and let that dry before using a glossy top coat. This manicure is so easy to create, but it looks so festive! If you’re not a fan of the typical red and green color scheme during Christmas, definitely try this out for yourself. You can use any silver and gold polishes you own!

All in all, I’m loving my silver and gold manicure. It is quick if you’re in a rush, and can go with any outfit this holiday season! Plus, if you have long-wearing polish it can last all the way through until New Year’s! Definitely let me know if you’ll be trying out a silver and gold manicure in the comments.

Give the Gift of Matching Nails with butter LONDON and Q&Q SmileSolar Watches

Q&Q SmileSolar is an eco-friendly brand in Japan known for its solar-power technology and expertly crafted products. Q&Q SmileSolar watches are powered by solar technology, and last for over three months with a single charge – no battery required! The watches are water-resistant, and made from recycled materials. I love how environmentally friendly they are! Plus, the Q&Q SmileSolar Series has a variety of styles to choose from, ranging from sleek and stylish to fun and bright. Q&Q SmileSolar Watch – RP00J004YIn this blog post I’ll be showing off the watch in style number RP00J004Y. This is a neutral watch with a silver band and face. It can go with any outfit! I’m pairing it up with a silver nail polish from butter LONDON.

butter LONDON – Diamond Geezer butter LONDON – Diamond GeezerMy silver of choice is butter LONDON in Diamond Geezer. It has a great formula that is opaque in two coats. Because it is really shimmery, it does have a tendency to get messy. Keep your clean-up tools handy! Diamond Geezer is perfect for the winter months, and can be worn alone or in nail art looks. I have it on as I type up this blog post, and am loving how sparkly it is in the light!

Give the Gift of Matching Nails with butter LONDON and Q&Q SmileSolar WatchesHere is my manicure along with my Q&Q watch! It’s definitely a lot of fun to match my nail polish to my accessory. While I wouldn’t do this everyday, I would love to receive a gift this Christmas with a coordinating nail polish and accessory. It makes opening the present even more fun, and it lets the gift-giver think outside the box!

I hope you found this blog post helpful as you continue on with your holiday shopping this year! Q&Q SmileSolar watches can be purchased online HERE at $40 each. I think that is an amazing price for such an eco-friendly watch. Of course, you can grab Diamond Geezer on butter LONDON’s website HERE. Giving the gift of butter LONDON and Q&Q SmileSolar is a great way to give your nail polish lover a fun yet practical present this year.

Holiday Lace Nail Art featuring Born Pretty Store Hollow Lace Stamping Plate & Silver Stamping Polish

Happy Friday! My adventures in stamping continue today with a holiday themed manicure. Born Pretty Store sent me some of its new stamping products to review, and because December is here I felt like a holiday manicure was in order. I share more information on Born Pretty’s new stamping products in THIS blog post, so make sure to read that if you’re new to this website. Let’s jump right into the nail art!

Born Pretty Store Lace Nail Stamping PlateThe Hollow Lace stamping plate comes with three strips of different lace patterns. I like that there are a variety of looks you can achieve with just this one plate, because you can stamp over the floral, over the netting, or a combination of your choice. I do want to point out that I photographed the stamping plate with the blue lining still on it, just so you would be able to see the pattern without a reflection in the metal. This plate can be purchase on Born Pretty Store’s website for just $3.59 HERE.Born Pretty Store – Hollow Lace Stamping Plate

Here is a closer look at the stamping plate. Feel free to click on the photo to see the designs in even more detail! I decided to test out the middle design that has the floral area towards the bottom.

Holiday Lace Nail Art | Adventures in Polishland Holiday Lace Nail Art | Adventures in PolishlandI began my Holiday Lace nail art with KBShimmer Chilly Pepper, and once it was dry used Born Pretty Store Stamping Polish in Silver to stamp. I am so impressed with this manicure! The silver polish is amazing for stamping, although a bit messy during cleanup because of the rich shimmer. Nonetheless, I found that it’s really simple to use the Hollow Lace stamping plate, because you can’t mess up the pattern – it looks great no matter which direction it ends up on the nail! This look is so festive, and I’m loving it. You can purchase the silver polish for just $3.99 HERE.

Born Pretty Store | Coupon CodeAll in all, I am once again so impressed with the quality of Born Pretty Store’s stamping products. Not only are they fabulous and affordable, but they are so easy to use, even for a newbie stamper like me! As always, you can save an additional 10% off your order with my coupon code FZL91. My Top 5 Metallic Nail Polishes for Fall | #FallintoPolishland

Happy Monday! My fall nail polish series called #FallintoPolishland continues this week with my top five metallic nail polishes. I’m usually not a big fan of metallic nail polishes, but there is something about the fall season that makes me want to wear them! I usually associate fall with nature, so I guess it makes sense that I go for polishes styled after elements. I reached into my nail polish collection to find my favorite metallics that are still available for purchase. Let me go ahead and share them with you!

My Top 5 Metallic Nail Polishes for Fall | #FallintoPolishland

Julep – Isla Julep – IslaJulep – Isla [BUY]

First up is Julep Isla, a white metallic polish. Isla has a good formula that is opaque in three coats. I’ve used this polish a ton over the years! It’s great on its own, but I’ve used it under a lot of glitter top coats. The metallic finish adds a lot of shine, and is the perfect base. Isla is also a good transitional polish to take you from fall into winter.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Celeb City Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Celeb CitySally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Celeb City [BUY]

Next up is Celeb City from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear. Celeb City is the perfect silver polish, and is the only polish in my entire nail polish collection for which I keep a back-up bottle. The formula is perfection, and is opaque in two coats. I highly recommend Celeb City!

Zoya – Brooklyn Zoya – BrooklynZoya – Brooklyn [BUY]

While I have tried a lot of gold polishes over the years, Zoya Brooklyn is the best metallic gold for sure. The formula is good, and is opaque in two coats. Brooklyn does show a lot of brush strokes, and while that is normal for metallic formulas, I recommend being precise in your application for a cleaner look. Brooklyn also has a stunning holographic shimmer, which adds a lot of dimension.

Milani Color Statement – Bronze Milani Color Statement – BronzeMilani Color Statement – Bronze [BUY]

Next up is Bronze from Milani, which is a pink-based bronze polish. Bronze has a great formula that is opaque in two coats. I really love the liquid metal effect in Bronze. Plus, the pink undertones give the polish an almost rose gold look. Bronze can be paired with any outfit this fall as well.

Zoya – Claudine Zoya – Claudine Zoya – Claudine [BUY]

Last but not least is Claudine from Zoya, a graphite metallic polish. Claudine is absolutely stunning, and has an awesome formula. I love how glossy Claudine is without top coat, too. Claudine is perfect to pair with leather jackets and cozy sweaters. I think this is a must have in your collection!

That wraps up today’s #FallintoPolishland post! Make sure to let me know in the comments what your favorite metallic nail polishes are, and stay tuned for another installment of #FallintoPolishland post next week!

Manicure Monday | Wet ‘n Wild Chrome Stay Outta My Bismuth

Happy Manicure Monday! There are only a few more weeks in the Alphabet Challenge – I can’t believe it! For the letter W this week I had to grab a Wet ‘n Wild polish. Wet ‘n Wild is one of the most affordable brands at the drugstore, but I’ve never been disappointed with any of its polishes. When I first moved to New York three years ago, I found a bunch of the Wet ‘n Wild Chrome polishes in a clearance bin at Rite Aid for $1.00. I just had to purchase one! I wore it back when I first got it, but it’s been sitting in my collection ever since. I was excited to give it another wear!

Manicure Monday | Stay Outta My Bismuth Manicure Monday | Stay Outta My BismuthStay Outta My Bismuth is a metallic polish with a mix of blue and silver. The formula is awesome – it applies evenly and is opaque in two coats. Stay Outta My Bismuth is a really unique polish. It is both blue and silver at the same time, and almost gives off an ombré effect. I’m not usually a big fan of metallic polishes, but this one is beyond stunning. I’m regretting not picking up more of these beauties back in the day!

The Wet ‘n Wild Chrome line was limited edition, but there are a few listings for Stay Outta My Bismuth on Amazon HERE. While metallics are often popular in the fall, I think this one is perfect for summer, and the chrome finish just shines in the sunlight! I’m so glad I discovered it in my stash!

Do you own any of the Wet ‘n Wild Chrome polishes?! Let me know in the comments!

Manicure Monday | China Glaze Stone Cold

Happy Monday! As you may have noticed, I took a bit of a break from my blog this past week. I’ve just been so busy with school and my internship this semester! Luckily I had a long weekend thanks to President’s Day, and I’ve gotten in some much needed rest. Now I’m here to show you this week’s manicure in the Alphabet Challenge. We’re onto letter C, and I’m trying on a China Glaze polish. Please forgive my winter cuticles in the photos – the NYC temperatures have not been good to my hands!

China Glaze – Stone Cold China Glaze – Stone ColdThis is Stone Cold, one of the polishes released in the Hunger Games collection a few years back. Stone Cold is a slate grey polish with a matte formula. It contains a silver shimmer in the base that really makes it look like solid rock! Stone Cold has a really great formula that is opaque in one coat. I applied two above just to test it out. I can’t believe this beauty has lived in my nail polish collection for nearly three years without me using it!

All in all, I am so glad I finally pulled out Stone Cold! It has a really unique color and formula, and I’m certainly a sucker for matte finishes. I do wish clean-up on my cuticles was easier, but now I know to be super careful during application with this one. While Stone Cold was a limited edition shade from China Glaze, it is available on Amazon HERE for $6.49! Make sure to snag it if you want it, though, as there are only four bottles left as I type this!

Please let me know your favorite China Glaze shades in the comments! I love your recommendations!

My First Manicure in 2014 featuring JulieG Silver Bells!

Happy Wednesday! I’m back today with a new blog post after not polishing my nails for over two weeks! The holidays were just so busy that once I took off my old manicure, I decided to take a bit of a polish break. Soon I’ll be testing out all sorts of new polish goodies for the new year, but to break my polish hiatus, I grabbed one of the Holiday Frosted Gumdrops from JulieG. Let me share my first manicure of 2014 with you!

JulieG – Silver Bells JulieG – Silver BellsJulieG Silver Bells is a silver nail polish with silver glitters and a textured finish. The formula was good and manageable, but a bit on the thick side. I suggest three thin coats for full opacity, as I wore for my manicure. Silver Bells dries very quickly, and looks stunning! I’m not usually a huge silver nail polish fan, but the sparkle in Silver Bells makes it wearable and perfect for winter.

JulieG – Silver Bells All in all, I’m really liking Silver Bells, and I’m glad it got me out of my nail polish funk! I’m excited for the coming year, and can’t wait to continue trying and testing more nail polish and beauty products. I hope you’ll join me on my Adventures in Polishland as I soar into my second year of blogging!

You can purchase JulieG polishes for $3.99 at your local Rite Aid or on the Jesse’s Girl website HERE. I purchased mine from Groupon!
