Springing into March with Zoya Nail Polish Blu

With the official start of spring just a couple weeks away, I’m ready to transition into more pastel colors when it comes to my nails. I looked at my nail polish collection and immediately spotted Zoya Nail Polish Blu from the 2013 Lovely Collection. This is one of the first collections I received from Zoya to review, and it’s hard to believe that was 11 years ago now! I decided to pair Blu with an indie glitter polish from my collection for a fun, springtime manicure.

Blu is a baby blue cream polish. It has an amazing formula that is opaque in two coats. I’m impressed with how easily it applies, especially considering my bottle is over a decade old! While there were a few minor streaks when the polish dried, as soon as I applied one coat of the Zoya Naked Glossy Seal Top Coat I got a super smooth and glasslike result!

To complete the manicure, I added an accent nail of KBShimmer Toying Around on my ring finger. This polish has a clear base and is packed with multicolored glitters of all different shapes and sizes. Toying Around was part of the Winter 2015 Collection and is no longer available. However, you can certainly use any glitter topper in your nail polish stash for a similar result!

I am really enjoying how my manicure turned out this week! It’s rather simple, but the glitter accent nail dresses it up a bit. Plus, sometimes it can be nice to wear a classic, cream nail polish shade for a change. I do love all of the fancy glitters, shimmers, etc., but Zoya Blu is reminding me how polished a cream can look!

Hello Kitty Nail Art Stickers from Born Pretty Store!

Happy Friday! Today I have another review of a product from the online retailer Born Pretty Store. While I was not impressed with the Sweet Color nail polish (see that review HERE), I am loving these adorable nail art stickers! As a lifelong Hello Kitty fan, I was super excited that I got the opportunity to review these stickers for you. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Above you can see the nail art sheet as it comes. I love these stickers because they are glittery and have different sizes and shapes! This sheet retails for $5.23, but if you buy more than one you get a discount. As always, there is free international shipping from Born Pretty Store! I was so impressed with how easy it is to apply these stickers! First, I painted my nails with Zoya Blu from the lovely collection (see that review HERE). Once my manicure was completely dry, I chose the stickers I wanted to apply, and carefully peeled them off the sheet and put them on my nails. I pressed each sticker down firmly, and then layered top coat over them. And that’s all there is to it! The smaller stickers are a bit tricky to handle, but I used a pair of tweezers to steady my hand. I can’t get over how much I love these stickers! I chose to wear one on each finger for this manicure, but you can use them easily for an accent nail as well. I love that just one sheet of stickers can be used for multiple manicures, and you can mix and match the designs!

All in all, I’m so happy I tried these Hello Kitty stickers! They are so easy to apply, and are perfect for someone like me who prefers not to do her own nail art. This design is also perfect for spring, but there are so many to choose from on the Born Pretty Store website. Indie Spotlight: Shimmer Polish Part III

Happy Tuesday! Today I have Part III of my Shimmer Polish review! In Part I and Part II, I wore each polish on its own. In this entry, you will see the polishes layered over another color. I used one very thin coat of each Shimmer to create the looks you see here. I love that these polishes are so versatile! Let me show you these gorgeous glitters.

First up is Jennifer, a mix of multi-colored pastel glitters with pops of orange and turquoise. I layered one coat over Zoya Blu. The pastel blue base really highlighted all of the glitters in Jennifer, and I think the two are a perfect combination. This manicure is perfect for springtime with an extra sparkle!

Up next is Karen, a mix of pink and purple glitters with flashes of holo hexagons. I layered one coat over Pronto Purple. Karen’s formula was a bit on the thick side, but I didn’t have problems with application. I thought a purple base color would be very complimenting. In the first two photos, you see my manicure with a regular, glossy top coat. On day two, I wanted to change things up a bit, and added my Butter London Matte Finish on top. I just love the matte result! It makes the glitters stand out even more.

Karina is a red and black glitter mix, with sprinkles of purple and holographic grains. I layered this polish over Julep Claudette, and it is the perfect combination! I think it looks like one complete polish. It’s a great manicure for Valentine’s Day, and for those of you who like darker colors. The black glitters really make this red color unique and edgy.

Last but not least is Linna, a gorgeous mix of green, red, blue, gold, and silver glitters. I layered Linna over Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in Chlorophyll. The application was great! This is my favorite manicure from this post. I think these polishes are perfect together, and I have been loving green nails lately. I would definitely wear this look again in the future!

All in all, I love how versatile Shimmer Polish is! Each color can be worn alone as an opaque glitter in just 2-3 coats, or you can layer one coat over another polish for a unique look. Shimmer Polish sells on Etsy for $12 per bottle HERE. You can also like the brand on Facebook HERE.
